What took me about 3 months was the proper things you need to mine. Even when someone explained it to me, I still didn't get it. They had to physically show me step by step, and once it dawned on me, I facepalmed about how simple it was.
I also didn't know about quick docking for a long while.

Yay, really?
And i always looked in the map to see where i need to enter.
Or only for a moment pressed f3 to aim my ship in the right ring and then flyed without auto to perform fastdock

Got that one sometime last year, been playing since 2003 though. ¬¬

I found out, that if you target another ship in space, it name appears, you can see the distance from it to you.
And there is another number, that you can see:
So, obviously this number shows the level of the charakter. Yes, yes, now i know, too.
I played Freelancer from ~2004, and reached Disco ~3,5 years ago. As you can see, i signed on forum 3 years in the past.
I am not a newbie, it seems. But believe me or not: I found that level-thingie out only ~5 month ago.
Ok, i needed 2 weeks, from the start, until i recognized, that i can move a zoomed in system map by click and drag, but this level-thingie is awesome. As i found out the meaninng of the number, i thought: 'What a handy tool... since when we have that?'
Around ten seconds later, i thought: 'Crap, i guess it is hardcoded since 2003...'
Blind spot it seems. I felt ashamed more than a bit, beeing such a blind guy, that i have waited 5 month. But now i will share this nice lil story about failiure...
Did you expirienced a similar blind spot on you own game-eyes? If so, please post.
Others are invited to give a polite comment, thank you
Sooo, what about the ''No-Shooting Underlevels'' rule? <.<
I still can't make weapon groups working depsite roughly twenty people explained it to me already in the last half year. I never heard about weapon groups before and I still can't understand them

I realized this last year and I've played Freelancer since release.
look in your settings, where you assign keys to controls.
scroll down and there is a "roll left" and "roll right" feature. (i think thats the name of it...)
by default, the keys aren't assigned.
only seems to work in cockpit view.
i played the game for a very long time before i realized that you can "turn on" your countermeasure dropper, so it automatically launches CMs when someone shoots missiles at you, by clicking on it in the HUD.
