i was digging through my excess discs and i found star lancer, a quasi prequel to freelancer. its the fight between the alliance (your with these guys) and the coalition. the reason it isn't that well known is because the game is VERY unstable. if your wondering how bad it is, the game would crash every half an hour or if it switches to a cut scene (about a 50/50 chance). but at the moment i don't know if it leads to the settler ships launching, because I'm stuck at a part where there's a beam turret that kills you in 1 shot. but look it up. also get a joystick.

Treewyrm Wrote:all in all the conclusion is that disco doesn't need antagonist factions, it doesn't need phantoms, it doesn't need nomads, it doesn't need coalition and it doesn't need many other things, no AIs, the game is hijacked by morons to confuse the game with their dickwaving generic competition games mixed up with troll-of-the-day.
Well, the level itself is not that hard. Just hide behind the super beam turret - it's large enough. First time you will be dying but on a third try you will already know where can you hide.
Played it over and over again. Loved it. In fact, Freelancer's single player campaign can learn from Starlancer. Great attitude, great atmosphere. In Freelancer I got bored sometimes during the SP.
When I played it it wasn't unstable at all. Perhaps it is less stable on newer operating systems.
I'm voting for myself being the main oldfag - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wing_Commander:_Privateer - and, well, ye (smoke). And, well, Starlancer can be donwloaded from several sites still. It's not that hard to find it. And I never had unstability while running it.
It was a great fighter game. Unfortunately, my joystick broke.:dry:Never had instability issues myself. Also, Phoenix FTW, though the cloak fighter was awesome too.
