Couple of teeny, quick questions.


1. Why do the Angels have loads of money? Why accept donations?

I really think that giving newbies money is a bad idea. Sometimes you can throw a nice 400k or a mil or two at someone who is doing really well, but the Angels must have enough money to buy the server by now. Why?


2. Why the need for a custom ship?

The Angels aren't really a proper faction, and there isn't a real RP push. You have the Camera ship, why not just use that?


Edit Question: Why the Restricted recruitment?

It doesn't take a compassionate, professional anzlagger to help people out. Can't ever be enough helpers, right?

People like to stand out and have super-awesome-special-sucker-duper-awesome-sexy gear... Why? People are dumb. (And this doesn't just apply to the Angels)

Regarding the money, meh, if you choose do give out money, its your choice. As for donations, well I don't really know.

Custom ships is more of a dev team thing. Oh, and I do believe there is a certain amount of new ships that can be in Freelancer as a whole, and why wast precious space on a ship for a faction that doesn't really need it? It's a waste of time which could have been spent fleshing out neglected parts of this mod.

IMHO, you do not need to join player factions and groups to help newbies. Neither do you need to whine about them. Simple as that.

I'm not whining, it's just that the Angels, like the HF and Phantoms seem to have lost their 'touch' recently.

The money isn't going anywhere. There is no charity on FL, cause no one is suffering. Donations are a little pointless when you think about it.

Why don't the Angels donate factions who want to develop the mod with new systems or by going official?

The Custom ship thing is just kind of silly...


These are just innocent questions is all, just wondering why the Angels have a stockpile of money sitting about and a custom ship possibly when we're about 40% Imports/Low quality models.

1: no idea - if people want to donate its their own business - as long as donations are not "expected" - they could also ask for fairy dust for what it matters

2: they don t get one - so who cares

3: same reason other factions are invite only - which is the same reason you see a queue before an in-club in the city even if its anything but overcrowded.

They used to offer loans that didn't have to be fully paid back, if it wasn't just a case of someone asking for 900 million for a battleship. The admins decided to stop that for some reason. Or, I suspect, a lack thereof.

Because there are people out there trying to actually rp money lending and who is going to take a loan that they have to pay back when they can take a loan they dont have to pay back.

And because giving away money like that is not what the Angels are for.. They are to help newbies, teach them the ropes, the rules.. Not make them think they can just beg money out of people to get that battleship they wanted. Having a newbie start up from little-to-nothing makes them appreciate the stuff they earn far more than if it is given to them. 1-2 million I can understand. Giving away hundreds of millions to brand new players just invites them to find the best capship they can, hop into it without giving any thought to rules or roleplay, and go fight people. That's the opposite of what should be happening.
