Yea of course, but similar factions blend together could be much much more interesting.
I have some problem with some ID been divided in almost half a dozen of factions ( I don't count freelancer and assorted ID). I won't name them of course ( but I could).

So I am pretty much against non unique official faction, and by unique I mean a major difference in what they do/think over their respective official counterparts....

I have saw wonders of unofficial factions but also some without any goal.. . I mean there is difference between a faction and a ''clan''.

What do you think?

Well, for those who think some factions are unpopular, yeah I agree on that, but the official faction task is to make it more interesting to people, to show people they enjoy playing it and why, so people can see them in space and say : hey that's cool I want to join.

All of my opinions on factions is made from forum/ingame RP. So well people make it more interesting, add more flavor, more fun, more pirating, more wars, more advertising.

Joining isn't an necessity but I still fail to figure out why do people decide to go solo. 90% factions only give and ask for nothing but activity (if even that) back.

As someone already said some factions have it harder than others because some factions are way cooler than others (to someone not introduced fully to everything).
To move from that, trading factions have it even worse since they're usually on receiving end of any "pvp" activity going on.

There's only 200 people that can play on the server and most of them aren't on the forums really. So considering you'll find one, or maybe two people online that want to do the same thing as you do - it is a pretty lonely place out there.

I had a member leaving Kishiro few days ago because there weren't enough convoys. Sad thing really, since we had three, but none in the time when he was around. He decided to leave instead of actually trying to organize a convoy in that time with some either new recruits or maybe other faction (we're good with GMG)

But it is fair to expect that not everyone is ready to work to make faction better, some just want to reap the benefits, and that is fine too. But for those that think that faction activity is something that's easily achieved they're very wrong. it's people that otherwise shoot at each other (BAf and corsair in same trade faction, scra too), getting together and putting (if any) differences aside to do a trade route that has been done already, and do it for sake of joy.

add to that the fact that some 4.86 info got out this summer and rest of it is still in the clouds it is natural to expect certain people to take a "breathe" before entire thing goes wild and consumes us all in eternal flame that is discovery freelancer.

people fly non-factionized cause with a faction comes a sort of expected roleplay.

no matter how free the faction really allows you to RP around - every faction comes with a manifest that defines the roleplay of that faction - and to be different to the normal RP of the npc faction - they all limit the freedom somewhat.

also - as a non-factionized you can make your own fate easier, you can be who you like - you feel no obligation to join up with others if you really don t feel like it - and most of all.... other people who meet you don t see the faction - but they see the person you RP.

there are many good reasons not to join a faction - which are also many good reasons to make ones own faction ( which is basicly being non-factionized but having minions that agree with YOUR roleplay )

a faction is nothing but a clique of similarly minded people - who define their roleplay and RP it from a basis of power ( cause power comes from numbers ) - or as unselie ones so harshly but correctly stated...

we can make you do what we want, cause we can force you to at gunpoint ( too lazy to find the actual quote ) - but it was uttered back in the days

Lots of truth in that one. I've been spending a lot of my in-game time lately getting some new ships set up, so that I'm ready for when 4.86 comes out. Planning ahead, as it were. Much better to do some of that than continue to feed the Zoners to the Corsairs...

I fail to see what it has with this thread, especially as this problem was months ago presented, when we knew there is much more time till 4.86

/signed.

Also, wait for 4.86, and then take action.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

Why wait? The one official faction per ID rule isn't "waiting" for 4.86. If they're gonna have a rule such as that then there needs to be some serious accountability concerning the already existing offical factions.

I can think of two or three unofficial factions right now that have been around for months, have steadily grown and are even more active than the current official faction (factions in one case) and provide just as much of a quality interaction. They deserve at the least to have the option given to them to challenge their respective official factions.
