but if you did - those are rumors - some are outdated - as much as history goes on. - and why ... oh why should zoners return to vanilla? - why is everyone so eager about it?
why does no one ask the corsairs to return to vanilla?
I`ve read them all.
Ehm, because i like them more in vanilla style? May be because i feel that getting their holy grail, achieving main goal (finding a planet), getting capable to build Capital ships makes them, mmm, notanymoreZoners? I mean we are threat to any House because we have as big guns as the have, we have money, and we have no enemies but aliens. If i was a leader of any House I would just tear us down as a potentional threat. It is impossible to be neutral when you are not a crowd of strange explorers traders and so on decided to live without any comfort on far stations, but a nation with whole package of guns in your pocket.
Why the hell any House goverment would treat us as something neutral? Really, Houses don`t need us. We need them. We depend on them. Even with own planet Canaria.

4250 total population on all freeports in 800. And we can add the same for explorers, travellers, etc.
Yeat, we have Gran Canaria 400+mils. Yeah, Zoners are not the only ones who live ther, but at least the major minority!
We have Erie without official population for some reason. I assume it is big anyway.
Having the biggest ship as dromedary in vanilla we end with the biggest capital ship as i read somewhere. Not only the biggest - but more than any House but Liberty (i mean not ingame count, but 4 of them to choose from).
These quotes provide us with the info that Zoners hope that Hessians will kick corporations` asses out. And yet OSI is a corporation, imho. Ranks, rules, seeking for corporate profit. Isn`t it the thing Zoners wanted to escape?
I don`t need to mention ZA who acted as a goverment. Yeah, right. It fits vanilla lore so much! Democratic? May be, i`m new and my experience based only on forum.
And i do think that outcasts having anything bigger than gunboat is ridiculous. Corsairs, Orden and ANY faction but Houses go as well.
It just doesn`t make sence.
But Zoners having their own planets, systems, battleships, no further goal and still be neutral. "lolwut?"
I mean history can be altered, it`s not a vanilla anyway. And history was altered. But `sairs still have food-supply problems. Outcast still are junkies and have fertile problems. IMG is just a corporation, not any House would let them have battleships. Orden which is a secret organisation? Hackers? Blood Dragons? Yeah, right.
I don`t know how do you welcome new ones, but it`s just an opinion from fresh blood who loves vanilla zoners and can`t understand how zoners can be altered so much and still be neutral. And i can keep roleplay zoner as a vanilla one. I can make a faction who would think there is no Gran Canaria, Erie, no capital ships. Still, they are in game. It`s not a roleplay-forum-only game. So we can`t just ignore what we see.

Because I have NEVER seen an infocard or rumour supporting that, yet all Zoners roleplay it as such (excepting the ZAS)
Then you haven't studied the lore enough. It is all there.
Can I just make a reminder: this is a guide to the lore. It is one thing to read something, it is quite another to study it. A good historian does not merely read and point to references, but studies the body of work as a whole.
In vanilla the Corsairs needed Pharmacuticals, the OCs used the base as a supply depot and got engine components.
Also, the distance between stars is actually bigger then it is. Remember the opening cutscene? One trade loop took 2 weeks, now it takes 30 minutes. So in Vanilla Freeports were actually important waystations out in the middle of nowhere, necessary for refueling, getting more oxegyn, ect.
But in Discovery, nobody actually needs pharmaceuticals (no population revolts at not having medicine), or engine components (buying or repairing a ship is a simple click away!), and everyone can sit happily in there fully awesome perfect RP guard systems and not actually have to worry about fuel, or oxygen, or food.

I'm not sure where your other post went but I thought I'd respond to you again:
My apologies. I have not yet included the other 20 bar rumours. One of these rumours mentions the following:
Quote:The Zoners’ philosophy is to not antagonize anyone. We wish to coexist in peace with all factions in the Sirius sector, whether they are criminal or government. Zoners who cannot abide by this code are asked to leave. They often become Bounty Hunters. So we have a special relationship with the Guild.
In addition, while it's true that Zoners are very diverse and that they do come from all walks of life, it doesn't mean that they have different ideologies. And while there's plenty of evidence that Zoners are individually minded, there are also even more evidence that Zoners follow a common belief, open mindedness towards all other factions is a part of it.

Zoners which are not neutral are asked to leave. Thank you, that answers my question.
Though in turn raises a new question... Leave what?
-Well it can't be the Freeports, as they are open to all
-It can't be 'The Zoners' as the purpose of being a Zoner is to live outside of government - there is no 'The Zoners'
Furthermore if enforced, it would cause antagonisation to the one asked to leave, thus making the ruling hypocritical?
Thanks again (sorry if I sounded angry earlier, I wasn't, I just wanted an answer to my question)

The Zoner community and their way of life. It is one thing to visit the Freeport bar it is another to live there as part of the Zoner commune.
Bounty Hunters visit but I think it's safe to say that they live elsewhere. And if they do live on Freeports, they are certainly not part of their society.
This is nice, but lore changes. Lore is merely a guideline. They're not rules.
Quote:I thought we covered why Zoners are not returning to vanilla.
Feel free to create another thread to counter my points.
In the meantime, someone moderate and split the feedback away from this thread?
Returning to Vanilla? That's just hilarity. This is DISCOVERY. It is NOT vanilla. In order to 'go back to vanilla' we will have to delete every new system, every new ship, every faction, etc. I cant even understand what someone would plan to accomplish by saying that, trying to belittle some factions RP? Saying we need to forget everything and go back to vanilla?
