I enginekill to around 2k away from the package, to make sure its well out of my bubble...then log off.
If the destination ship is on another FL ID, I switch IDs before leaving, so I can log on straight away, while my other ship is still sitting there...
Well I did the character switch with the cards and it worked pretty smoothly...almost.
I chose a remote location that wouldn't be too dangerous for a new character in a Starflier to reach and dropped 50 $1,000,000 credit cards from my trader character. I did the F1 boogie, loaded the new character and lo and behold there it wasn't!
Actually, I had misread my navmap (it was late), and I was in the wrong sector. I corrected my heading, flew to sector <strike>7D/6E</strike> and Lo and behold, THERE it was!
Whew.
But, I forgot the Starflier cargo hold will only hold 20 units! So I tractored them in, stifled a cry of anguish, threw it into Cruise, dashed to the nearest base (about 45k away) cashed in the cards, grabbed a quick bag of Nomad Crunchies at Galaxy Greasy & Gruel, jumped back in the cockpit, hit the afterburners and sped back to the secret drop point.
Nada.
Zilch.
Squat.
There were only two other players in the system and they were both on system chat greeting one another, so I would bet a cold Sidewinder fang that they were in the trade lane. I don't think the cash was stolen. For some reason, when I failed to tractor in the floating cards, the server just...deleted em.
BAD SERVER!! Not nice to vaporize people's hard earned Credits !!! :nono:
But I still had over $60mil on my trader character (business has been good) so I just loaded up some more cards in the Cargo Transport , traded in my dinky Starflier for a Rhino (bigger hold don't ya know) and did the whole shebang again. But this time my Rhino had more than enough capacity to suck up the floating space bucks.
And now, I'm flying around in a Liberty Gunship, blasting the bejeesus out of Rogues, Xeno's, Outcasts, and the occasional Bounty Hunter.
Life is GOOD. :D
They disappear if you get too far away for too long.. And you did it wrong.
Your supposed to get the Starflier to where you drop the cards, then go back to the other char and drop and then switch and tractor. This also helps if you forgot Starflier doesn't have enough cargo, you can switch back quickly and get it back.
You were EXTREMELY lucky it was there the first time. You should have had the noobflier at the location before you dropped them in the first place.
Isn't it just easier to use two different windows accounts and Korrd's ingenious account manager to transfer credits from one char to another? Oh and RepEx will provide this service any time anyone needs it... for a very small fee of course;)(10% of transferred amount or 3 million flat fee, whichever is lower)

Wow AC_Merc, that is a very handy service you provide there and at a fair price too.
Im just asking so please dont take this the wrong way, because Im not saying its fact or anything (I dont know how these things work), but isnt hacking your account what makes the server imitate a lady of the nights underwear on her busiest business evening?
Not quite sure what you mean by hacking... Korrds Account Manager is used by almost all on this server, it lets you have multiple accounts, essentially allowing you to have more than the maximum 5 characters. It also makes transferring funds and equipment a little easier.

Actually, that's what I tried to do. I positioned the noobflier at the coordinates, then switched and dropped. But the noob--being a noob--went to the wrong place and at first I thought it didn't work. Then I flew 16k adn found them.

Does this require using two Windows profiles? If so, how can you be logged on with both at the same time? If not, how does it work and where can it be downloaded?
But really, I prefer the credit card drop. The risk of loss or of having someone sneak in and snatch it adds a little adventure to the process. :-)
