OK here is the deal. No one broke a rule and I am not going to name names here but... Today I witnessed a certain Corsair pilot using a the BAF BS MacDuff in Tau-31 as a shield of sorts against a gentleman trying to protect traders there. At one point that lawful individual hit the MacDuff while shooting this Corsair and now all of a sudden the BAF NPC's and the MacDuff are now fighting on the side of the Corsair Pirate. The only reason this irritated me was that someone did this to me once in Cambridge.
Now I think this is a very cheap and un-RP practice. BAF and the Corsairs are enemies, yet these pirates are allowed to duck and dodge behind one of their battleships. Then when one of that NPC's allies (an SF, a RepEx, etc.) accidentally hits that BS, ooop now those NPC's fight alongside their enemy.
I dont know how we could change this or make it against the rules, but its very irritating and does not fit into RP at all, in any capacity. I feel it is far less RP than many of the things that are rules on this server.
Opinions?

In my experience, getting some base red to someone is quite hard, except if you are in a bs and/or shooting missiles. I never got red with a base while shooting at it with normal weaponry, I even shot with Novas, didn't go red.
@IMRDY: Agreed but that is not the point. Again the point is that I dont think they should be allowed to do this as it does not fit into RP AT ALL. BAF npc's should be shooting at a Corsair while he's parked right next to their battleship, certainly not helping him kill another BAF or other friendly.

its ai so its limited even if he was hostile to it the ais count being shot by an ally a more pressing concern than the original enamy meaning if say the SF where fighting the TBH in cam and one of there people accadently hit an allyed npc that ussually completely surround the players that person would become the target of all the cambrige defense force unless another SF hit them then it would change to that SF
I know what you mean, AC. Not mentioning any names, but its slightly dumb for half of an attacking force on Crete saying they bombed this and that not to be getting shot by our NPCs. Makes it a bit unfair, as you said.
All of my TBH characters, while they might not be hostile with the BAF, Outcasts or whatever, will shoot them to get them hostile before an engagement if possible. For example, I start shooting BAF in my GB around cambridge if they happen to be neutral (even if I am not about to engage, but I consider this a courtesy).
It does pain me to see people not being attacked by the NPCs they should be. That battelship should have killed the Corsair so fast with its battlerazor-like guns, being on the recieveing end of them is not funny.
I wish Drake's suggestion could be implemented, it would solve alot of problems. It may create new ones in the process, but I believe this is more than a fair trade-off.

Really? Again, not mentioning any names, but a certain KNf recruit was approaching the BS Nagumo in his starflyer after the arduous trip from Manhattan. I fired a welcoming salute over his bow; and not realizing he had targeted the BS for docking, he loosed a single 25 credit missile by mistake. He was vaporized before I could wet my kimono. Didn't seem hard atall atall.
Missiles automatically cause NPCs to go hostile. Even CDs. Not fun to be fighting someone and CD them just to find a dozen "allies" are now hostile to you. :(
The issue here is, this Corsair should already be hostile to BAF, in which case, using any kind of bretonian capital ship as a shield would result in a timely death. If they weren't hostile with BAF, then they need to be cited for that.
If the corsair was getting shot at by the BAF, then there is no claim here, watch your fire you can hurt friendlies too. If that's not the case, ignore the last comment.
