//Alright, before I start. I must say that this is just an attempt to create a faction write up. I don't have the time to actually manage another faction. I just want to create a faction write up for kicks and possibly, inspiration to other players. Hopefully, somebody may take up this faction. Also, do comment.
[font=Georgia]The Pirates Guild
[PG]
The Pirates' Guild is a loose coalition of pirates from different backgrounds. The pirates that end up in the Pirates' Guild tend to be rejects from other pirate factions, people who reject being under the command of somebody or people who prefer to not have ties with other pirate factions for their own reasons.
The Pirates' Guild was founded by guild master Rob Banks shortly after the construction of Barrier Gate Station. Legend has it that he founded the guild when he stepped into the Barrier Gate bar half-drunk and shouted to everyone: "A large shipment of gold is comin' from Bret through Cortez! Who wants in?!". The friends he made during that ambush became the first members of the guild.
Currently, the Pirates' Guild stays true to its origins, basing off from Barrier Gate Station in Coronado, but have expanded their reach to sectors with the use of "Platforms", transports carrying the necessary materials to keep a small wing of fighters running.
The Guild is far from rich, although there have been successful piracy attempts, the law has been cracking down on piracy as of late. While other organizations such as the Liberty Rogues have the numbers and necessary connections to remain relatively strong despite the increase in lawful patrols. The Pirates' Guild has suffered greatly in terms of both manpower and funding. Often because the Pirates' Guild lacks the necessary connections and manpower of larger pirate factions. Without any support from other criminal organizations, the Pirates' Guild have dwindled but still carries some presence in the systems around Coronado.
The Guild, being poor, often fields cheap and old ships. Very rarely will you find a Guild pilot flying a very heavy fighter and it is almost impossible to find a Guild bomber. Most Guild pilots fly light fighters and freighters, opting for the "your life is precious, it's best to get'da hell outta' there if it gets too hot" strategy. An additional bonus is that it is almost impossible for any large transport to escape due to the sheer cruise speed of light fighters and freighters. A rare ship you might find amongst the Guild is a "Platform", an old abandoned transport, taken in by the Guild and refurbished to flying condition. Often these ships serve as a pit-stop for Guild pilots. Offering repairs, food, water, oxygen, fuel and a drop-off point for pillaged loot. These ships are considered very valuable by the Guild and thus are rarely, if not never, fielded in battle or for piracy purposes. These ships are often hidden in asteroid fields near an active piracy point. If attacked, Guild members will protect the ship with the utmost ferocity due to the immense value these ships are to the guild.
The Guild, lacking the necessary fire power to take down large vessels on their own, opt for teamwork. Often you will notice that their light fighters work in groups with very specialized equipment. You will see three main types of light fighters. Firstly, there are "balanced" light fighters with a mix of pulse and hull-damaging weapons. Then there are "Shield-Buster" light fighters, carrying purely pulse weaponry. Finally, there are "Hull-Buster" light fighters having only hull-damaging weaponry. In a swarm of 3 or more, "Shield Buster" fighters are used to burn the enemy's shield and "Hull-Buster" fighters mop up the rest. An effective strategy but requires immense amount of coordination and teamwork.
Rob Banks was a paranoid man. He refused any sort of neural net cash transfer during piracy due to his fear of being tracked. He is well known for only accepting pure, hard cash or goods, opting only for tangible items. He passed on this paranoia to his guild members, creating a guild law that only tangible items shall be plundered and nobody was to accept cash transfers through the neural net. This has been a major setback for most guild members, resulting in a drop in recruitment and cash inflow. However, his paranoid ways have been successful to some degree. His guild is famous in the underground for not being caught. The lawfuls, in general, have not a single file on cash transfers on the neural net and therefore, have never been able to catch any member through bank identification technology.
Because of Rob Banks' peculiar philosophy, freighters are often fielded together with fighter squads. Freighters are used to take the stolen loot and bring them back to either Barrier Gate Station or a nearby "Platform". Occasionally, freighters are used as mobile weapons platforms used in the defense of nearby "Platforms" or act as heavy support to fighter wings. Similar to the fighters, they are often fielded as "Anti-shield" or "Anti-hull" variants but "Anti-hull" seems to be the more common of the two.
Technology:
Fighters: Civilian and Borderworlds.
Freighters: Civilian, Borderworlds and "Bactrian".
Transport "Platforms": Pirate Trans and maybe something else.
Notes: All pilots are to fly LFs or Freighters. HFs and VHFs are allowed upon permission and will be rarely given. "Platforms" are shared but only a few will be available (2 or 3).
Also, NO FLASHY STUFF. You can't fly a Hayabusa cause you ain't rich enough. Capiche? Now go step in your Starblazer.
Diplomacy: Friendly:
Freelancers
Junkers
Neutral:
Pirate factions
Zoners
Hostile:
Lawfuls
Notes:
We're neutral to pirate factions cause some of them may not like us around. Eg: Rogues don't want us on their turf. We're friendly to Junkers but we WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT dock on their bases upon being chased by a lawful. We want to be friendly to them, we don't want them evicting us and we don't want the lawfuls evicting them. Also, we will not be pirating in Baffin cause we don't want the Zoners to hate us.
ZOI:
Home system:
Coronado
High activity:
Cortez, Magellan, California, Manchester
Low activity: (Only allowed with a "Platform" in system)
Bretonian space
Libertonian space
Taus (Through Baffin)
Out of bounds:
Kusari*
Rheinland*
Any guard system
Notes:
* We can't go there! We're too damn poor! You think we can just drop in somewhere and buy fuel? Ya gotta be kiddin' me. And our "Platforms" are old and derelict monuments from the past age. They can only go so far without needin' repairs.
Last note:
This is a cargo piracy faction. We cargo pirate, not money pirate.
Furthermore, this is a teamwork faction. We work in teams, NOBODY goes solo without a good reason. Work in groups of 3 or more.
This is a RP faction, we are poor dudes who can only afford LFs. So we aren't all uber-awesome-battleshippy-SNAC-the-hell-outta-everyone.
I am sure as hell not going to be the one in charge of this. I've got examinations coming up and I've got enough on my plate with handling OS&C|.
I don't care if somebody takes this up, in fact, I'd love it. But just do inform me if you're doin' it.
I'll just drop it in here that of anyone does plan on making this happen, I'm happy to help out, I have a very empty summer ahead of me and filling at least part of it with some kind of faction creation would be cool.
I suggest you round up what is left of DEX. They use LFs as well and are pie rates.
Also, be careful of the LR. They might shoot you, if you do not offer them a reason to be th....oh wait. Or you can shoot their barghests in LFs.

Spazzy's got a point, the LR will kick the PG out of Liberty at every oppurtunity unless there's something you can offer in return for pirating rights. Even then they'll be the "top dogs" and PG will be moved off of pirating grounds when LR members want pirate in the same place as them.
Well, I never said there won't be conflict with local pirate groups. The Rogues need some competition anyway. We'll high tail it if we can't fight them naturally, running is in our nature.
