The Major has been warned for trolling. There's no reason to troll someone else's national holidays and such. If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing.
Here we go again, four days since I believe the issue was resolved and discussed with Dab.
If you really insist, I can try to carry it on too, then.
You people seem to think that only because it's a national holiday, it is not offensive to others whose country is specifically targeted by that nation's holiday. It was my understanding that this is an apolitical forum, which is why the Veteran's day thread for example, was closed.
In that case, we're not discussing the "birthday" of a country, since it already existed. It's a celebration of the parts of an another country being added to an already existing country.
Now, as a consequence, the country where I live (that being Hungary, obviously) lost 2/3 of its territory which it held for roughly 900 years, got its economy ruined, its people slapped to other counties, resulting in families and entire communities being ripped apart. Later on, both the late-war Romanian government and the communist dictator, Chauchescu thought it would be a good idea to roll into villages where Hungarians lived with tanks and dozers, raising everything to the ground and killing the inhabitants. What people faced there was holocaust in the literal sense. Signs of that still persist, even today.
(Yeah, I know no one will bother reading all that, but wikipedia is not something I consider a scientific source.)
Oh right, you said national holiday, not birthday. Now, this "national holiday" is obviously offensive to some Hungarians who are affected by this sudden turn of events and its consequences and I do believe anyone showing a little empathy would have realized that.
Do you see me showing it into others' faces? No.
Do you see me bragging about Hungary's territorial claims at all? No.
Do you see me thinking anyone cares about my national holidays? No.
If they were to celebrate it in a normal manner and not just stir attention, the poster easily could have gathered the Romanians from the forum into a Skype call and sang the Imnul Romaniei together or something equally modest.
There were also people who told me I suck (yes, he said that literally) and I bring shame to my country with a behavior like this. Now, one may argue how they were countering the evil troll with the same behavior, but the thing exactly is, wasn't I doing so as well?
What is a celebration for a country is not necessarily happiness for another. We need to banish every thread from this forum which can create an opposition between nations. I easily have as many Romanian "friends" as Hungarian ones as I don't really care where anyone is from. Besides, if you go "not the Hungarians whining again", I don't really believe you can understand and feel what losing 3/4 of your country means. All I want to say is that there are players here, not "Hungarians, Romanians, Americans or Chinese", let's keep away these celebrations, as they cause only divisions and tensions.
