I made a Freelancer Discovery 4.86 map with white background as I have done before for 4.85 and wanted to share it.
It is based on the official map and I didn't want to change its look. I updated it and removed the background.
The jumpholes, jumpgates and systems are as they are in the game now. I will update the map when 4.86 final is released.
White background helps me save some ink when i print multiple maps.
If you find any mistakes please tell me to fix them.
Discovery 4.86 updated map. JPG High (5.9 Mb) / Low (1 Mb) quality map.
You can print them to 4 A4 papers for a bigger map.
PNG Map -> 5.3 Mb.
This is a PNG map without a background so you can add yours.
Discovery 4.86 updated map with numbered systems and with a list of all the jumphole coordinates. JPG High quality map with JH coordinates -> 8.4 Mb.
Discovery 4.86 updated map with a new system skin and ZOI. Background 1. JPG High (10 Mb) / Low (1 Mb) quality map.
JPG High (10 Mb) / Low quality map with ZOI.
This is very nice work. I would like to make a couple of suggestions
The two levels of detail for geo-politcs are "core" systems that "belong" to a faction, and "zone of influnce" systems that are in the "activity area" for a faction but are not directly governed by them. Zone of influence can overlap among several factions simultaneously, such as more than one unlawful group engaging in piracy within a system that is also patrolled by one or more house forces.
Your map (and the one that is bundled with the mod) only show one level of detail that does not accurately represent either political scope. For example Faroe is not part of any house space at all, and is independent in the same way as some of the Tau and Omega guard systems, but is associated with Bretonia in the map. Similarly, you have Okinawa and Nagano as part of Kusari space when Okinawa belongs to GMG and Nagano is independent--they are within Kusari ZOI but are not part of Kusari.
My suggestion is to fill the center of the dots with the color that identifies the owning authority, and to use the ring color to show the zone of influence for the houses. There are too many unlawful factions to do this with, so my suggestion is ignore the unlwawful ZOI in this particular map.
The core house systems are listed here. Outcasts have Omicron Alpha and the 8x numbered systems directly attached to it, and Corsairs have Omicron Gamma and the 9x numbered systems directly attached to it. The rest of the systems should either be white center (if not owned by a faction, as with Magellan), or light grey if they are directly governed by an independent faction (such as the GMG and some of the Hessian systems), or dark grey if they are guard systems.
The zone of influence for the houses are those systems that connect to one of the core house systems. Sometimes these overlap, such as Cortez and Magellan which connect to California (Liberty) on one side and Manchester (Bretonia) on the other. Bering and Hudson are shared between Liberty and Rheinland, while Kepler and Galileo are shared between Liberty and Kusari. With the current occupation of Orkney, Edinburgh, and Tau-31 by Gallia, Tau-23 and Tau-29 are shared between Gallia and Kusari (both touch Kyushu), and Tau-31 is shared between Gallia and Bretonia. Outcast ZOI are the systems that touch their house space in the Omicrons, or touch any Sigma or Tau system, and the core Bretonia house space. Corsair ZOI are the systems that touch their house space in the Omicrons, or touch any system any Sigma or Omega system, and the core Bretonia house space (yes the core Bretonia houses are within the ZOI for Bretonia, Outcasts, and Corsairs, plus the local outlaw factions too).
Another problem with showing overlapping ZOI is that right now you are using blue-red two-tone color scheme for Gallia and that would be the way I would represent overlapping house ZOI, so maybe another solid color for Gallia.
Anyway, ignore this if you want, its something that bugged me about the bundled map, and I would like to see it get fixed in somebody's map
The next map will be one with JH coordinates on it. There are too many systems and jumpholes and it will take some time. Two, three days maybe. Here is a sample.
Ursus, I don't know much about ZOI. If you give me more info and color suggestions, I will gladly do the work for you. I will need everything you have though.

What file format are you working with? Maybe I can give an example

I don't know the ZOI of all the factions to make the whole map. Any info will help. :)
