Yes yes, more stuff is always nice, but its a case of if the devs can code and balance it. - Well, code it anyway, balance can be done through ingame testing, like cloaks and drives currently are.

Alot of people already find the jump drives and cloaks to be terribly unbalancing. however.. its a benefit most folks can get themselves with token effort. They have enhanced the gameplay in a way we havent seen in the game before. And this sort of ..."addition" only serves to give a personal touch where the only difference was ones skill and latency.
The big deal about these "boosters" is that they would occupy three or so slots on any one ship. you couldn't by change have "all" of them.. because A.. everyone would naturally want to put all 9 on thier ship and B would feel the possible sting of a billion or more credits when they died and rage ebyond rage.
I don't beleave even with these the devices will make someone unstoppable and in this case a person who has spend an arm and a leg on improvements will feel the pinch when they are blown up.. and lose them. This may cater to a small amount of ..tardedly rich.. but all you need to do is rouse a possy and blast em.
As for this being a mod killer or seeing other mods die "because" of this feature.
Ill have to say that's a pretty large leap. For one "other mods" is a straw-man argument, the only two mods i know that used them went down because the administration and thus hosting just quit. Cause the freelancer community couldent freaking grow up.
The balance of these modules would be no different then constructing a cloak or jump drive, these would be designer equipment that has to be "hand crafted" per say. And while you wouldn't see them everywhere the investment should mirror the advantage.
They have Armor Upgrades like we do, seperate from "upgrade modules"
They have powerplant regen upgrades, powerplant capacity upgrades, shield regen rate/capacity upgrades and multirole modules that do everything but do everything not well.
These are all great ideas.
The problem with implementing them is the balance.
EVERY WEAPON and EVERY SHIP would have to rebalanced to account for new upgrades.
Jump Drives and Cloaks are mostly superficial, Cloaks sure they can help you escape, at a 100% rate.
Jump Drives i've only ever seen used in an economic/financial gain situtation.
These modules would directly affect PvP for everyone and that would take ages to rebalance...
I still dont see the "it would take forever to balance" argument as valid. no.. it wouldn't take forever to balance superficial even in the perspective in which your thinking.
Outside of a spreadsheet im not seeing how balancing these factors couldn't be done in a few months.
