Well, I have to admit, after a week of being back in the ranks of the 101st, I must say - Ive been impressed.
While Im not entirely sure if it's appropriate, or not, for a someone to post feedback of a faction, when the person is in fact part of the faction in question, I still feel compelled to.
I was rather skeptical on how a return would turn out. I know I didnt exactly leave in good favor, last time, for a number of reasons. I also was worried about the situation in the Omicrons and Taus, as I hadnt exactly heard the most encouraging things.
But, even with all that, I can only say that Im having fun. The membership is great, the activity is decent, the RP is varied, and the places are wonderful. Sure, dealing with complaints is a pain in the neck. Yes, most of the indies which you come across arent exactly the most...enjoyable sort. And, yes, sometimes I just dont feel like going through the more unsatisfactory aspects of Outcast space.
Even through that, though, I am damn proud to call myself a member of the Ghosts.
So far most encounters with the 101st in the Taus were funny and fair fights, a few exceptions here and there but that doesnt matter that much.
But lately the less pleasant encounters were increasing. Meaning mostly the simple fact that a huge fleet of Outcasts, mostly Indies with one or two 101st in them just wait near Java to shoot everything that undocks there. I cant blame you for things the Indies do, but it would at least be a good thing f your guys would try to get a more or less equal fight and if that isnt possible because the Indies just and simply dont want to listen, at least stay out of that fight to prevent it from turning into even more of a gank.
So maybe try to get things a bit fairer even if this would mean that you would have to stay out of a fight, thats pretty much everything I would ask for.
I viewed you as the one part of the OC that wouldn't come to the Tau to senselessly gank IMG/CR with ridiculous superior numbers. I know, some of you come to the Tau every now and then, there's nothing wrong with it. But it's becoming more and more often. And honestly ... your members started behaving like every other outcast coming to Tau 23. It makes me sad seeing even the last group I saw as "not only looking for PvP in the Taus" reverting back to what everyone else does. We've entered a state where the Taus are like Conn - but worse. There's no fun in fighting there anymore, that wasn't your fault. Until some of you decided to join in.
As I said - I'm disappointed. I know not all of you do behave like this. I haven't seen many of you around the Taus that often, even if I did, you mostly didn't come there to fight. Some did, yes...some do.
But what I witnessed today and some times before...Made me change that opinion. Daily - or should I say hourly ? - raids are normal by now. We have more PvP and about as "much" RP as in Conn. Now when even the officials join in the daily gankage...Makes me think something is wrong here.
Yes, we aren't innocent, doing raids into Alpha as well. But not that often. We gank back in T23. Why? Because we have to. We have to defend ourself there, because it's "our Omicron Alpha". There is, where we play.
Slap your rookies with a stick. Tell'm to keep fights fair. Maybe one day T23 will be fun again for everyone in every fight then...
You might see this as "Q_Qing" or whatever some might call it - but, then I'll just know where I stand. And what to think about you.
Funny you should say that Tau 23 is your Omicron Alpha when I don't see a home world with an IMG tag inside of it... besides, the IMG and CR are the last ones who should be throwing stones around for "base camping" and "ganking".
But... since it is in my best interest to see to it that the 101st doesn't devolve to the primordial ooze that used to be the other official Tau factions. I will make sure to tell my new members not to do that sort of thing next to Java.
I would like to comment a bit the [101st] since time has passed by and i am around more then 1,5 year mostly in OC space so i have encountered different members of this faction. I must say i am always pleased to see people like you around which have interest in RP and which always grant a helpful hand to other OC's. Keep up the good work;)
While I don't share the sentiments of Syrus entirely, I can see where the "Tau 23 is our Alpha" comment is coming from. The IMG is most concentrated on Niobium mining. Although Tau 37 has a better field, that area bordering Alpha makes it near impossible to go there. You'd almost need a battleship fleet as escort against the forces that would show. Personally I'd have liked to see another system between Alpha and T37 - something with a neutron star so people don't go through it needlessly, the Taus are just too dang close to Alpha. But that's a matter for the devs.
Java is our "home" base so to say, because it's the center of most activity for the IMG.

And I take it that your unbiased mind thinks that this is fair? Riiiigh... While none of the people who are supposed to run this place has gone so far as to think that perhaps the Outcasts do mine as well, and since there really is no other logical way to explain the amount of ships we need to fight the war other than saying that we do indeed mine, this deduction of mine rings more true by the minute.
Now, your idea is the very definition of meh for two reasons:
1. We need resources.
2. You want to block off our main trade route with radiation.
All I can ask is: Are you insane, or do you just want to defeat your pretend enemies in a spaceship game with such a zeal that you are willing to pull poor ideas such as this out of your rear end?
As a whole, you gents are quite a positive contribution to the discovery mod experience. Given your resources, your management of your indies is surprisingly well done, especially since the outcast faction is one of the favorites of capwhore lolwuts next to the order, liberty navy, and the IMG.
Almost every encounter that I've had with members of your faction has been fun, and I have yet to see one of you without a well thought out character.
