Dodike, I don't think it's hard to understand liner's purpose is security of group of important people who need to meet somewhere. Liners are well-armoured, self-efficient and have enough cargo space, but they're not used to trade, as they're quite expensive, bricky and not suited for shipping in general (I imagine packing goods into one would take quite long time, unlike with simple train. Imagine this like packing goods into barge and some yacht, IRL- barge's more efficient, since it has less unneeded sections).

Luxury Food, Consumer Goods, Wine, Tobacco, drugs are examples of RP cargo for a Liner.

What Nekrataal means is, when people ask me why on my Royal Liner I have 155 ship crew, 40 crates of food, 70 of water, a few crates of wine, a holotainment band or two, one two three crates of small arms for security (when carrying VIPs) and things like that... I respond, "how else would we run a ship this size and accommodate this many people lad?"
I've got some RP-cargo aboard my liner, too. Not so much as Chase, because it's at the same time my money maker ... otherwise I think I've got enough credits for now, so I could/should increase that amount.
And I've got no problem if for example RepEx has its own LuxLiner. Maybe its their companies "private jet". But in that case it would haul humans too. If they wish to trade other goods, they would use a Rheinland Train.
Maybe one problem is, that the Pirate Train and the Enterprise have both 4,300 cargo spaces. So most IDs say that they can use transports with max. 4,300 cargo - they use the LuxLiner because it has more fire power and defence ability to offer. Maybe they dont see the difference between a Liner and a Transport. If a Liner would have 4,400 cargo - it would be a bit clearer that they are not allowed to use that ship.
Yeah, and I know, that rulewise there is already a difference between them, but as I said - my experience is that some of these people dont (want to?) know that.
And by the way - I would like to see a new OSC-player faction. I think it could watch and enforce the proper use of the Liners better than it is now. And actually we dont have anybody to represent us against other factions ... for 4.86 and the gallic invasion in Bretonia for example. The Shetland in Edinburgh would be one of the first stations of whole Sirius which could see gallic forces nearby - 'cause Edinburgh is half way between Gallia and New London, the ultimate goal of them. Also the planets Leeds, New London and Cambridge are possible destinations for our Liners.

Sounds like a reasonable method to me. Or even just 4350. We don't need much more.

A few years ago, I tried running an OSC faction, but never really got a solid footing before Real Life kicked in. I still maintain my faction ships, but haven't taken them for a serious spin in a while. That said, I still have plenty of ideas for what OSC is capable of, but just don't have the time to take the reins again.
Thank for that link. I've read only the Liberty story thread yet cause I'm often in there (and I'm waiting for the Rheinland story for the same reason). But never the less - OSC has business in Bretonia, so we have to deal with Gallia somehow.
For the second part - I would join such a faction, but as a relative new player I dont think that I've got enough experience to lead a faction. Do we need a leader?
If I remember right, a player faction needs 5 active members to have a chance to get official. These five people could form the "supervisory board" - everyone could have one vote, so decisions would also be possible. Maybe one would be CEO who would decide in a draw (if somebody abstained).
So, Gargamel, Knucklehead, Myself and two others ...? :D
edit: Oh, and I forgot Chase with his Royal Liner ... then one would be missing.
I would love to join a new - non-PanGal OSC faction - I was thinking to start such on my own but RL is killing me right now so I pass on that...If the OSC faction will start it's work I will be glad to join
My first proposal - naming OSC|Shipsname-Cpt.Name I have such for many hours now over 200h and it is looing nice apart of that everyone thinks I am a girl cause ship name is Amber....:D

There was an OS&C faction, PanGalactic Travel Industries, that I was part of. Nobody wanted to hear about the wonderful colors of the nebulas, or how risky and exciting this system was because of pirate attacks. In fact, the Navy frequently hunted me down and told me to shut up.
It's not possible to RP as OS&C unless you have a lot of patience and a large escort force backing you up all the time.
edit:
And in addition, I'd like to clarify why EDGE wants a lux liner - corporate HQ, a place for our employees to get some R&R (being the most wanted bounty hunters in Sirius is tough work, you know:$), and as a place for any diplomatic talks we might engage in to be hammered out. Basically like TF7's "Honolulu," which runs on Navy IFF and guns, but OSC ID... actually, that gives me an idea...
