So I recently had to reinstall everything on my computer and all that because I got the hard drive replaced. And with my new installation of Freelancer, I've encountered a rather annoying... er, annoyance. Depending on certain factors, my computer seems to freeze if I alt+tab from Freelancer.
Now, when I run FL, I tend to have several other things running in the background, like the Account Manager, maybe FLcompanion or FLstat, possibly a web browser open, and Skype. I figured that having so much for the computer to do might be some of the problem, and I found that exiting Skype before starting FL would allow me to alt+tab without any trouble at all. Of course, Skype can be an important part of playing FL for some of us. However, I decided I could live without it for now.
But just the other day, I decided to add the "-dx" thingy to my FL shortcut, and I was amazed at how much better the game looked. I'm surprised I hadn't tried it earlier, actually. But with the higher resolution, it seems that my alt+tabbing will always freeze my computer now, even if I have nothing open in the background.
Any ideas as to how I can make this... not happen? I could just go back to playing the game with a low resolution, but I'd still have to give up Skype during gameplay. And this wasn't an issue at all for me when I had my old hard drive, so I imagine there's got to be something I'm not doing right.
Reinstalling solved any problems with FL that I ever had. So dont even look for anything else until you reinstalled the mod or reinstalled FL as a whole.
