If you are monks get a pirate or freelancer ID and ask the Corsair Council for ships and weapons within your ID regulations. If you are corsairs stick to the corsair ID.
Religion is a very important part of the hispanic life and I don't see any problems with a religious corsair group as long as you ditch the other ID's you use. Picking different ID's just to go around the limitations of one ore more ID's is not cool
I saw a Titian with Hacker Guns in NY. And a Corsair GB which is stupid. Both with Pirate ID.
' Wrote:Using Corsair IFF, ID and tech makes you a Corsair. That's the RP you must deliver.
You wanna be not affiliated to faction - use generic ID.
Fail that is like, everyone who is wearing an AK 47 is a Russian Soldier or a M16 is an American Soldier.
Black and White TV ahoy.
' Wrote:I saw Shaulanca guy in Dublin with Corsair IFF and ID. It was shooting miners. Then joining the the fight between Corsairs vs. Mollys.
You RP as Corsair in front of my char "Fred" and you will remain such.
Me, and it was the lulzy situation with an Outcast Gunship and a Corsair Squadron.
' Wrote:To be totally honest with you Steve (Although I think I've already mentioned it during the early days of Shaulanca), I've never liked the idea of using Corsair ID for such group, as you're not really a 'Corsair' group anyways.
Shaulanca have always been more of a 'Pirate' group to me who are close friends to Corsairs and help each other out whenever they can, so I'm all for switching all your ships to use Pirate ID instead of Corsair.
This however, will raise a major problem: Tech restriction.
Sadly, some people in this community - who happen to be leading figure of some of the major factions - have a 'Black & white' type of view over things, which might make things rather hard for you. What I suggest is, switching to Pirate IDs and approaching the Corsairs leadership like 'We used to be corsairs, but life-style of corsairs doesn't really fit our group, so we decided to become independet but we'll still help you whenever we can, so it would be nice if you let us keep our tech' - Something that doesn't sound like 'We don't like Corsairs and don't want to be corsairs anymore and we're sick and tired of being called cannibals, etc'. That might work if you manage to RP it out right, and even if doesn't, there's still a chance of getting ooRP approval from Sairs for your ships (Not much unlike the [RF] Hessian group), but yet again, if RPed out right.
If neither of these work, and if you still believe you should be able to fly with Corsair tech, you can wait for SRPs to re-open, and then request a SRP to fly Sair ships in your fleet, even if not approved by the elders (Not much unlike the VR- Hackers group). Same goes for the Osiris, there have already been two major pirate factions with cap ships as their Flagship (The Vagrant Raiders and Neo-Terran Front), and both had to request SpecOps ID for their ships.
In the end, although I don't want to sound like a 'RP-whore', but all I have to say about your situation is, anything is possible in this game if RPed out right.
But still, if you're not corsairs and want to go full independent, and nothing works out in your favor, you'll have to live with it and get Codie-Sabres just like any other pirate out there, which is rather meh, but the only way if you don't get permission (InRP, or ooRP) to keep your ships.
100 Points for you. You get a wash machine, mixer and my personal medal of "How the things work".
The biggest issue you face as any group who uses ID, IFF, equip of a faction but isn't actually part of that faction; is that forum users are a minority. Yes you can write up a big backstory but since the majority of players don't use the forums they will see you as Corsair. Your far from the first group to experience this issue due to trying to implement something into Disco that never had anything to do with the Freelancer history or current setting. You'll never see me getting involved with something that doesn't have a clear cut background associated with the Freelancer setting due to the headaches of trying to regularly explain something only I and a small tiny group of people have any understanding about. Wookies aren't in Star Trek, Capt Kirk is not a hero of the Jedi Order.
' Wrote:Soldier having American M16 gun, American ID and American uniform is not American soldier?
Nope, because everyone can buy or steal a M-16. Would you stay in a front of the person which has a M-16 in the hands and say "You has M-16, U can't shoot me".

Funny part is... You keep asking them why aren't they corsairs and why have they been using Corsair IDs so far. Which is, a really simple question that is already answered in their background stories (And -that- exactly is why you were directed to that story in the first place). Refusing to read it and still arguing in this thread, is simply commenting on something you have -No- idea about. So it's not really -Their- fault your arguments doesn't deliver a point or even if it does actually have a point, you still fail to express it.
So, at this point, my suggestion is to keep head-desking until you either pass out or come to realize the world is not Black & White, and neither is this video game we all play here.
In either case, the only damage it can cause is to your post count and nothing more, so it shouldn't be a big deal anyways.
' Wrote:YOU CAN NOT HAVE IT ALL. Your group cannot be sair, zoner, pirate and freelancer at the same time. You have to make some compromises
Actually, my dear friend, -That- is the beauty of the Generic IDs... To have it all without being part of any!
' Wrote:They got Corsair IFF, ID and tech. Help Corsairs against Mollys. Pirates miners. And yet still claim they are not Corsairs and not to meet them as Corsairs.
RoS used Outcast IFF, ID and tech. Helped Outcasts against Corsairs. Flew around in Outcast ZoI, and still, they claimed to be something other than 'Outcasts'.
Only those who actually put the time in reading their backstory and accepting it were the ones supporting enough for back when they used Outcast IDs, others commented not unlike you.
' Wrote:If they do not wanna be called Corsair every time, they should stop behaving as one. Si?
Which... happens to be the exact thing they're trying to do, No? Yet they're are being told "You were using Sair IDs so you'll always remain a Corsair <strike>in my eyes</strike> to my char."
Y'know, it looks kinda funny to see you saying something like above comment in your now-edited post a few pages back, and saying the exact opposite now - which happens to be the original idea of the OP, the same you flamed back then - just to try and look right.
Oh wait... I was forgetting how Forum PvP is! Just turning in a never-ending circle, trying to prove you are right and the other side is wrong.
Thanks for reminding me, which brings me to the point where I should pull the handle.
