ok...my task manager says I never use more than 1% of my 54mbps conection, but I lag out of Disco all the time.....its vista, but, I have no Idea what's going on...could something be gobbling up my internet access, or is it just that my dorm internet sucks...or is it my task manager lying?
I have a 100Mbps connection and I still get lag on occasion. Earlier Epyon was telling me that I had jumped like 5k in a second or two... Could have been his lag (I didn't seem to be lagging at the time, and seemed to pass him at a normal speed), but he says he never gets lag like that. Where's the RP server located? Somewhere in Europe, isn't it? That might cause some of the trouble with US players.
Vista although it is demon possessed doesn't really cause lag unless you have something awry with your firewall. The server is in the Czech Republic that could explain some things for you. And your ISP may be having trouble. Often times when I have full connectivity on my network I have horrid lag. And if you have a Torrent running that could be it. Try turning off your anti virus and firewall when that happens and then reconnect to the server. If that does not do it then something is wrong with your ISP.
Well, I have an 1MB download connection, with no torrents or anything that uses my band while playing, and I still get LAG. Why? Because I live far, on Brazil!:(
Here are some pings:
A server in the same country: 32ms
A server in USA: 170ms
Yahoo! from UK: 261ms
Yahoo! from Japan: 333ms
Discovery FL on Czech: 318ms
So, basically, takes 10 times more to reach a Czech server than a server in my own country, and it's almost like connecting to Japan!:P
I live in Brazil too and i've the same LAG problems.
Mainly, last 4 days are to bad days to play in to Discovery server. The conection is broken a lot.
I've GB broadband connection but the Ping remains around 200 to 280.
Before connect to the server, look at the ping on the server. Ping's higher than 300 are not good to Play.
As the server is located in Europe, i've the same problem connecting from Miami (where i work).
