Is it possible to run Freelancer in windowed mode?

Does running in windowed mode degrade performance by anyone's experience?

the window is a lower resolution and has less contrast. Also, if you run any programs in the background (what else is window mode for?) it will go a lot slower. oh and the image doesnt change in the window, unless the FL window is the one active. it just looks frozen.

Actually with most modern PC's its not performance you have to worry about. Its how easy you can accidentally enter your desktop when trying to fly in combat scenarios. *~*

that would defeat the purpose... as you would have to alt-tab to get out

The size of the window is determined by the resolution you use. I have mine set to 11something. It fits nicely on my screen. The height is exactly the space between the inside of the top of the window and the top of the taskbar. I can have MSN or skype or teamspeak or whatever open and read. Combat is also pretty good even with stuff on.
