That thing. Is it any good? I have the money and I saw it can handle games from the newer generation like Battlefield Bad Company and so on... Anyone uses it? Thing is... it's pretty cheap and that's why I have some doubts.

And sure you will play Bad companay, but don't even hope to have anything even close to look decent, just big packs of ugly pixels.
I haven't find those 2 on the Nvidia site so I'm guessing they're too old. As for gaming performance, I know I can't ask amazing graphics and all but I play the games for their stories or mechanics so I don't really care for graphics. Thing is I don't want 10 FPS because that kills the game experience.

The gt 440 looks like a decent card to me, it's the new "low end" video card. Uses all the latest pixel sharer and direct X versions etc. But No SLI (if you care about that), only DDR3 memory (higher end cards use DDR5)
just a disclaimer, I am biased toward Nvidia. it's just my personal opinion.
everyone needs to do their own research to ultimately decide what is best for them. anyone can make suggestions/recommendations, but it's you who have to live with it!
I have the GTX 470, and I stand by its awesome game playing powers. Its very rare that it slows down in games, though in Crysis at Ultra levels, big battles and many explosions will drop the FPS a tad. Though looking back, I think my card is already old in technology terms.
If you can, get a 470 GTX you get a bit more memory.
I play games like Bad Company 2, Dragon Age: Origins and Team Fortress 2 at top graphics. I see no slow downs at all, Crysis is the only game where I notice lag in fights.
Checked the GTX 470 and it's too much for my "student with part time job" budget.
The GTS 450 looks good... or should I say better than the GT 440 but this mean one more month of savings. I wonder if I can run Shogun 2: Total War with it (as I said before I don't need ultra high graphics)?
The GTS 450/HD 5750/GTS 250/HD4850 (They are all equal)can run anything comming out or out just fine.
Performance wise will vary depending on what else you have in your computer but it will run well.

He said he can afford a Low end card, so why try to brag about your overpriced piece of silicon ?
