I've written this article to help out those Discovery players who have trouble working out time zones and time differences. Hopefully, you will find it useful for event planning, amongst other things.
1) Find the country and/or time zone you're currently in.
For example, let's pick New York, on the East Coast of the USA. If it's difficult to tell straight away, the countries are all colour-coded to the time zone bar at the very bottom of the page.
2) Then, find the country that the other player is in.
I'll choose Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.
3) Go down to the bottom, and count across the number of time zones between the two countries.
Here, there is a difference of twelve bars between these cities. That means there is a twelve-hour difference between the two.
4) Note the current time, or time you're interested in.
For example, I'll pick 11:00 am in New York.
5) Add, or subtract, the time difference to the desired time, depending on the position of the other country.
If the country is to the right of your country, add; to the left, subtract.
In this case, Jakarta is to the right of New York; therefore, it is 'later' in the day than New York, and you should add twelve hours.
If you were comparing Alaska instead of Indonesia, for instance, you would subtract.
6) You now have the equivalent time in your desired country.
11 am, New York, plus twelve hours, is 11 pm in Jakarta.
Simple, hey?
If you've got questions, ask away.
If someone with forum powers likes this, pin it.
EDIT: This does not take DST (daylight saving time) into account. I'll try and figure that one out for you.
