So the canon of the Discovery mod is that Sol/Earth is kapoot. Let's leave it at that, but I do wish to know is when will the populace/scientists discover that Sol is gone. Aka, they see the sun supernova.

I keep seeing 'soon' in the server.

Why not for RP sake kick it up to now? It could be interesting out-of-game RP, and could rattle a few cages. SCRA is one of the cages I can see rattled, though they're quite independent if I remember right.

So, yeah. If soon, how soon are we talking? And would it hurt to make that soon, now?

Will the actual supernova be visible in game....i.e. a bright distant star visible from every system?

That would be friggin sweet....

Well it depends on how many light years Sol and Sirius are apart by. It'll take that much time to know.

That would be a cool if discreet edition.

I thought I remember reading sirius was roughly 1000 light-years from earth. So it would be visible soon.

I also think a supernova (if it's a real supernova, which the sun could never do, but thats neither here nor there) wouldn't be very discreet from 1000 light years away....although I understand from a game point it wouldn't make much sense to blind people for an entire version.:P

So we'll never see it?:(

Wait, is the 1,000 light years written down somewhere or hearsay?

No, 1000 lightyears is the distance.

Find spead of light, do math.

I fail at math.

From the wiki:

the Sirius Sector - a super-cluster of stars about 500 light years away from Sol.

Realistically, it's already been seen....some 300 ingame yrs ago.
