Yea, well I saw wondering if someone could sketch up a shiplist of what ship is to what faction, so I have a good idea of which faction might need some more ship? Because I have plenty of idea, but I don't want to create useless ones (I was slightly disapointed when people mentionned RM already had a lot of ships and RH has a greater need and see the Mjolnir is kinda being scrapped up for the Hessians instead when i intended otherwise)
Also, I wanted to mention to you guys a new concept of mine, a new class of ship inspired from the Star Wars unvierse, the Lancer frigate.
Hence, I wish to introduce a new class of ship, the Assault Frigate, about the size of a Humpback freighter (slightly bigger). It would have about the same stats as a freighter, able to mount about same kind of shield. Difference would be that the ship will sport something like 5 extremely fast firing, fast tracking turrets that should be able and to take out bomber and take out fighters with ease, as well as incoming torpedoes.
This should be a ship that is extremely efficient against
-Fighters
-Bombers
And very weak against
-Anything with as much shielding as a good freighter
-any capital ship
Anyhow, this kind of vessel should not really be deployed alone. In SW, the Imperial Lancer was always deployed on the field with a larger capital vessel to screen it from other capital ship threat, while the larger ships had a hard time hitting fighters but big ease at killing other cap ships.
I am thinking of modeling a version for each of the 4 major house, then one outcast, one corsair, a generic pirate one with biger cargo hold, etc.
Please wait til 4.84 final release. Then i want all modelers come together, including Igiss to discuss about new ships, possible ship replacements and faction specific ships. Also a kind of a contract, who is developing which ship, to get this stuff organized. Also it will be easier to help each other in teamwork.
Igiss and/or Unselie will make a ship list.

be aware that there is an issue with "extremely fast firing" guns. in .84 - the rapid chainguns are tuned down from 33.33 to 16 i think - cause the very fast refire mode causes lag. if it was efficient vs. fighters - but useless vs. cap ships - an alternative would be to mod fighter missiles, so they don t use up ammo ( with a really low refire rate ) on a freighter like ship. so you could shoot homing missiles at fast targets - which would do like no damage at all to big ships. thats not the rapid fire idea - but something that might come close to your idea of weak vs. some, and strong vs. others.
problem with that is - that such a turret could very well solo fighters and is anything but a "support" ship in the end. .... that and ppl dislike "missile spamming"
The 'assault frigate' would need significantly higher power output--maybe a little more than a bomber.
The closest I've seen is the Kushan assault frig/frieghter, but the power output is below that of a VHF, so combat is impractical.
Also, I've wondered why bigger ships don't have torpedo mounts.
The cargo space would have to be small because of room required for power and weps.
Maybe the assault frig could be the magical vessle that can shoot two supernovas at once. It would be the 'van' of bombers--room for all the ammo and a fold out couch in the back. :crazy:
Not as dead as you would believe. Sure, fast refire chainguns are history. Existing ones were lowered in refire rate, but got compensation in damage output for.
The assault frigate, well, the way we have improved freighters is going in this direction. Don't worry, they are not uber pawnzors, but a single LF will have its troubles with. At the end they are still freighters.
