I'm planning to install the new Discovery 4.84 beta 4 on the roleplaying server in a few days time, maybe even later today. I can't specify precise time until beta 4 is ready. The transition will take some time to complete, maybe a few hours; so, if you've seen the server messages about server transition, please log out, download the new beta, and be patient until the transition is over.
There are several things that all players must be aware of during the transition.
First of all, we are not wiping player database.
Second, this means that many ships from 4.83 accounts will have problems with their equipment, weaponry, and cargo. Stats for many equipment types and ships were changed. Therefore, many players will be automatically kicked for cheating (Cheat detected: Ship specs exceeded) when trying to launch from bases.
The only way to fix this problem is to unequip all mounted equipment and check the slot levels. Then, try to equip everything again. You won't be able to equip items that exceed the specs of your ship.
If your items/commodities volume became larger than ship's cargo hold, only way to fix the problem is to sell the extra equipment/cargo.
Equipment issues can be related to many ship types, mostly transports and capital ships. Liners cannot equip any gunboat weapons or shields anymore. Also, the Bretonia Gunboat's first turret slot was converted into a forward gun hardpoint, therefore you have to unequip any turrets from this slot and replace it with appropriate cannon (can be purchased where gunboat is purchased).
Supernova and Nova can ONLY be fired by Bomber-class ships. Do not post that your light fighter or VHF cannot fire bomber weapons.
And, finally. Please be attentive. Don't post any equipment-related problems on forums before trying to fix them yourself. Also, if anyone else who haven't read this message has problems, help them and tell what to do. You can save admins a lot of time to deal with more important tasks related to the server transition.
Ok another thing to check now, and I cannot stress this enough ... Please check the parameters of your IDs
as well as the battleship licensing system that has been implemented.
The new player ID is now 'Civilian' and there are changes to the 'Freelancer 'and 'Mercenary' IDs, please note
and change your ships accordingly as soon as possible.
This will be a busy time for all of us, please make the transition as easy as possible for everyone, by getting
familiar with all of this as quick as you can ...
