Officer Joseph Truman, reporting in.
My second patrol in a long time was mildly more exciting than my first. After launching from Fort Bush and stretching the wings of my Liberator, I came across an Outcast Destroyer, running amok outside Fort Bush, blowing up Cruisers and the like. I rescued a Captain (and later returned him to Manhatten). Without back up, in my Liberator, I was unable to do anything much watch and try to save as many civilians as I could. Thankfully the Destroyer soon took off, hopefully leaving Manhatten space.
Not before he left though, an Outcast Falcata class bomber showed up between Manhatten and West Point by the name of Cerulean Gryphon. He wasn't causing trouble, just trying to stir me up. He seemed to take offense to me calling him a child, and charged to attack. I met him in combat some distance above Manhatten. I've fought many bombers in my time, but none so cowardly as this one. His load out consisted of a Paralyzer, a Sidewinder, a Mini Razor and two Imp. Debbilitators. My ship took heavy damage from the missiles, but I knew once he ran out the fight would be mine. This pilot, you see, could not aim his guns to save his life. I prolonged the fight, and made full use of my Counter Measures and Cruise Disruptors to minimise the damage to my ship.
With no shield or nano bots left, and little over half my hull, I was forced to dodge the final ten or so sidewinders without taking a scratch. Which, of course, I succeeded in doing. Stuck without missiles this rookie was a lamb to the slaughter, I proceeded to slowly whittle away his hull with what must have been an imminent, embarassing death.
To no surprise to me, the Gryphons' brother arrived on the scene, and traded the Outcast a fresh supply of missiles and nanobots. Cowardly act, he challenged me to a duel and this is what happens. Outcasts may be low down, cowardly and dishonourable, but the Gryphon clan is by far the worst I've met.
I managed to tractor in a single nano bot from a near by wreck, and cleared the Bounty hunter gunship standing by to engage.
It was a long and greuling fight, but we came out on top. My Liberator struck the final blow to the one known as Azure Gryphon (although, I was too busy fighting to stay alive to bother with the gun cam at this point) The Gunship was heavily damaged, but the remaining Falcata was out of nanobots. He seemed determined to finish me off, not that I would let him have the satisfaction of course. The coward eventually turned tail and ran.
In total he spent nearly 140 Paralyzers and Sidewinders, with nothing to show for it but a beat up ship. Now apparently the entire Gryphon clan will be hunting me. Three to four bombers? Been there... beaten that. I just hope the rest of the clan have the skill to use their weapons accurately, instead of relying on guided projectiles to shoot for them.
Sorry for the long rant (but it could have been longer!) But I thought because of my abscense, it must be due. Glad to be back and schooling these Rogues and Outcasts in the ways of combat.
