New Berlin Medical Center, Planet New Berlin, Rheinland. Few hours after destruction of The Junkyard in Sigma 13
This was an usual operation of all. It wasn't even a battle, but a full scale siege against the Junker base, the Junkyard.
I have read the unsual signatures on my neural net, while exploring the Sigma 13. As the Rheinland freelancer, I had to find it out. After a while, I saw the many contacts, which became the GMG, RM and even a few KNF vessels. I though: oh yes, there might be battle between Rheinland and Kusari once again? A border incident, which turned into battle? Or a major assault of one of two sides in try to gain full control of Sigma 13, the first one after the Eighty Years Battle?
As I flew closer, I have seen the unusual sight: The GMG, Rheinland Military and even the KNF forces were besieging the single, but tough starbase. The Junkyard. A base of the Junkers, that I haven't been liking too. After a few moments, I refitted myself with missiles, being just in the RhAT (Rheinland Armored Transport) and joined the siege, as I felt it was the good thing to do at the time. I thought I couldn't do much damage with it, but should I join the battle, RM would see this as the one of the major victories in my career.
Second after second, minute after minute, the missiles and energy blasts flew across the void and the particles of the nebulae to hit the hull of The Junkyard. That was an amazing sight, looking how maybe a dozen, maybe much more heavy vessels, even a bunch of capital ships were in the siege. The KNF, GMG and Rheinland Military fought together against the common enemy, which made them angry by the presence.
Yes. I have joined it too. But nearly at the end, I have been shot down by a vessel that I haven't even seen. I felt the escape pod launching, with three others on my board. Two of them were downed by a explosion blast, but mine was safe. I have been watching the rest of carnage against the base, feeling the pleasant thought that I will not be left behind.
But there was a moment that I feared. I feared of being left in the stasis again. The explosions visible over the glass of my pod... I closed my eyes and went slowly to a stasis again, hearing the explosions of the heavy fire and barrage, which echoed around the nebulae.
They will not leave me behind, I thought. This time, I was not alone, like back then, six years ago, in Taus...
