this is a concept i m working on that is meant as a replace for the "star trek" model of the current Talarca civilian cruiser. - the concept is vastly different to the current model though. - i took the chassis of the liner as a basis and added what i found would be needed to - to turn it into a military grade vessel while still keeping its elegance as a civilian vessel.

as a reminder - this is the current Talarca Cruiser:
it still has certain liberty elements, two half liner hulls are attached to create a main hull. - the engines of the liner were removed to be replaced by two large reactor chambers and 4 engines. - the whole ship is quite massive ( in terms of - it hasn t got the convenient liner profile anymore that is rather small ) and meant to be of liner size.

so far the model is rather detailed, but i think the polycount is still down to whats easily manageble ( 3200 polygons only )

since the talarca is almost only in use among the harvesters... its mostly about them to decide if thats a replace they can live with - or what has to be changed. - the model is a good step further than the current freelancer design. - i think its still close enough... but it takes a good distance from the "conservative" thought of freelancer ships. - however, since its a civilian vessel, there is definitely more freedom in design, as civilians can usually afford to pay more for specificly designed stuff than the military that does not pay much more for design, but only for functionality.

Hmmmmm, very pretty! It does indeed look like a suitable replacement for the Talarca, but I don't think it should be called a Liner. It looks WAY to Military to be a Civilian ship.

yea - only sort of called it a liner cause it uses elements of it. - it wouldn t share liner characteristics anyway - but only cruiser characteristics. ( that means, it would have the default cruiser cargo ) - however, the liner chassis ( with its roundness ) gives it a bit more of a civilian look.

i think a civilian vessel should look harmless ( they are not meant to intimidate like military vessels ) - and should rather be described as "beautiful" ( a term that you hardly apply to military gear, unless you re drawn to weapons )

maybe that vessel could also be reclassified to a heavy research vessel ( we don t have one - and for deep space it makes sense somewhat )

Would love to hear the engines purr on that behemoth. As said above, a bit too military, but if its what the VIP's want, its what they get. Life is too dangerous out there.

This ship if its capable of mounting good turrets, would give pirates a run for their money.
