I would like to suggest to upgrade the carrier class..
to make them a little bit more different from the battleship class with a little bit less fire power but so more hull armor and
they should be able to let some bigger ships dock to their ship so they can have more value in large battles because in the new design of the zoner carrier you see a transport ship docked


and they should be able to carry more ships:

like the wiki say about the Rheinland carrier:
Equipped with a bay capable of hosting two dozen fighters

and about the liberty carrier:
This ship can hold dozens of fighters deep inside its heavy hull

and it can create some great RP because carrier are going to play a greater role in large battles
and maybe add a fuel to the shop at a carrier so ships can resupply their fuel

Do carriers come equipped with Docking Modules? I know I've asked that before, but in any case I believe they should. They should also be expensive to reflect this. And the docking modules should be hard-coded so they cannot be removed.

you can equip docking modules to it but you can also equip them on other battleships but the carriers can have some more docking modules equipped

At the moment. Carriers serve no purpose except as a RP Platform.
I would suggest another purpose and/or more docking module slots or more ships Per carrier bay slot.

if you give carriers more armor and less fire power then player have already a choice:
A battleship with high firepower and less armor
or a Carrier with more armor but less fire power

and maybe make it easier to let people dock on your ship so they don't have to ask perm to the carrier to dock
maybe the same system as a npc base if you are neutral or friendly you can dock/ or that the carrier can make a list with players that can dock without perm of the carrier and if you are not on the list you have to make the request

They could at least, after Explorers suggestion of adding more docking bays, give them more cargo and less firepower, however leave the armor where it is. Take the new Liberty Carrier for instance. It's primary and heavy turret arcs have become horrid ( Can only fire two Primaries Backwards), and if I were to ever get one I'd rather use it as exactly what it is. A Carrier/RP Platform.

Currently unable to consistently be present in the Community due to life constraints.

if we are going to change something about the carrier then we should for every carrier what we should change maybe the Rheiland carrier some more armor but less fire power
and maybe for the liberty carrier something else

but that is a balance issue ^^ I want to make a difference between carriers and battleships like
battleship: high firepower just 1-2 docking modules
carrier : high armor, low firepower, 5-10 docking modules

and maybe give the carriers max 2 heavy battleship turrets

They need special docking modules, with lots of slots for them and cargo space to accomidate this. They could allow Cruisers to dock on them. To balance this, they'd have crappy gun slots and a low amount of them. And a 'meh' powercore.

Firepower wise, carriers are already very different from battleships and dreadnoughts of their class. They excel at fire support roles, but are weaker in anti-battleship combat.

Examples - Aquilon, Rheinland Carrier, Liberty Assault Carrier.

Compare amount of guns, types of those guns and their arcs to their battleship/dreadnought counterparts.


Giving Carriers more cargo hold to be able to mount more docking bays poses few balance problems - that cargo space can also be used to mount and combine other equipment, like cloaks + jumpdrives, with sufficient fuel for it.

Although, imho, giving all carriers 1 in-built docking module might be worth considering.

you say crappy gun etc but they still need some defense vs other ships so it wont be a easy target for everybody because then you wont have any RP of it because its down in a few shots
