Quote: Actual ID items do
not exist in roleplay and players must be treated based on their IFF, however, every
player should follow the restrictions and allowances listed in their ID.
That's a quote from the rules.
I made a thread about this a while ago but i want some clear instructions. When i hunt for bounties I have to printscreen the IDs. If a player has a wrong ID and IFF match i may not be able to engage even if the ID has a bounty.
How do i handle these situations from an RP point of view?
Bounties are processed as an oorp interaction, because it is done by the player hosting the bounty, not the character. It should be treated as such.

I never figured they would be processed as an oorp thing, bounty boards deal with hunters and targets on a character by character basis and normally treat them as characters and not players. I mean there is an entire group dedicated to bounty hunting and mercenary work (points at signature) and I would like to imagine they exist in rp and not just as an oorp action.
I dunno, I still kind of like the idea of IDs existing in role play so I am still working this out. Though I can't say that anymore with the rules flat out saying they are oorp items now, eh?
As for handling things from an RP perspective... well I know the IMG has an open bounty against ships with pirate IDs, which normally use Freelancer IFFs... really it is hard to say, before I could justify it as oh your ship has been marked as hostile by the IMG or you are on record as being a wanted criminal somewhere or saying that IC's Universal Ship ID system does not like you or something. I guess those excuses can still kind of work, but I mean... you are only attacking him on the basis of his ID, which does not exist in RP, and you need to use that item to justify an RP reason to blast him.
IDs should, I think, force a ship to have the same IFF now, but again, this is only faction IDs, freelance pirates can have whatever IFF they want from what I can tell. I do not know really, I do not know what to do about this just yet.
Why bother, if the IDs now instantly adjust your rep to full 1.0 no matter what you do?
