Personally, from an experienced capital ship pilot, solaris are a waist of money and the normal GRN gunboat turrets are fine for fighters. Maybe get a battle razor or two on there for when fighters get to close

That is correct...Gunboats suck now...and many are sad about that...

GB seems to suck but they have good utilities if deployed correctly.

Pirates should focus on cerberus and heavy weponry, cause thez attack tranports and dont engage military targets. Thats very clear. Although i prefered bombers s pirates instead of GB cause thez are more agile and give bigger punch.

That leave GB focus to military engagements. GB in militarz fights is support vessel. As bombers are biggest damage dealers vs. agility , GB heavy armaments are redundant in such fights (better to fly one more bomber than heavy GB). But there is defensive GB with missiles and solaris guns . When bomber get fighter on tail he can retreat close to GB fly in circles and GB act as mobile small weapon platform to deter enemy snub. Or just trz to follow snub and get occasional shoot and fend of him with probe CD missile or real gb Missile. GB has posibility to protect cruiser or BS from incoming torpedos by launching cd on them (havent tried , but i heard it is possible)

So, for those who expect GB to pew , truly GB sucks , but for those who prefer tactical deploy GB could be essentiall to secure others survive longer in group battles if deployed and understood correctly.
Perilous GB is one excellent GB with secondary forward gun when no threat to others can pew caps with solid capability, and in same time can provide protection with solaris to bombers if chased by enemy fighters. One GB maximun 2 are enough in group combat.

I dunno, maybe my aim sucks, but 4 solaris don't do enough damage and 2 missles miss a lot.

I told you. GB weapons suck now. Old house GB weapons were good.
Some admin or developer didn't like GBs.
Soo we get what we have now. Poor anti snob...bomber weapons and bad arcs.
Enjoj whit that if you can now..
If we look at transport weapons dps/energy use and compare whit GB IoI.
We have here military ship which is totaly useless.
Sad but truth.
