COMM ID:Fleet Admiral David Hale TARGET ID:Liberty Navy personnel SUBJECT:A great loss ENCRYPTION:Medium PRIORITY:High
Hale appears on the comms screen. He looks tired, worn, and deeply unhappy.
Ladies and gentlemen of the Liberty navy,
I wish that every time I had cause to bring you news, it would be good news. Sadly this is not the case.
[color=#FFFFFF]He pauses and rubs his eyes, looking down before continuing.
Recently we have lost a great asset to the Navy. An individual of great strength, both in military terms and on a more personal level.
Vice Admiral Lucia Defmir passed away following a long period of illness. Doctors were unable to determine the nature of this illness. It claimed her life on the twenty-sixth of this month.
Not many of you knew the Vice Admiral personally. Some of you may have not agreed with her methods, Some of you may have found her manner difficult... However her determination, skill at arms, loyalty and dedication to Liberty was second to none.
Her methods and manner were born from her belief in creating soldiers. Strict discipline, to her, was of utmost importance in saving lives. Your lives. The lives of the people you protect, your friends, your families. Her disciplinary nature was due to her care. Her humanity.
The battle she fought with this terminal illness was conducted with the same bravery and determination as every other battle she fought.
He looks away and sighs, closing his eyes for a moment before he looks back towards the camera.
Lucia Defmir was a close friend to me. I will not hide the fact we did not always agree, however disagreement leads to moderation in decision making. Her loss is... I don't have the words to describe the impact her death has upon myself.
She will be more than missed. A brave soldier who fought to the last. A selfless individual, who pushed many of you to the limit of your abilities, strengthening the navy through hard work and determination. A friend who's humanity shone through and touched those who managed to get close enough to see it.
