COMM ID: Captain Remus Sius;[LN]-LNS-MacArthur
TARGET ID: Liberty Naval Forces Reporting Center
SUBJECT: Rheinland Pre-emptive Strike
ENCRYPTION: High
PRIORITY: Medium
Good day,
In lieu of the efforts of the Secondary Fleet Core and other Liberty Naval Warship Captains to improve coordination between our fleets, I took the suggestion of pressing the attack on the Rheinland front.
Starting with a small but agile fleet, we headed out for Hamburg in the hopes of catching their defenses off-guard. The initial composition of our ships is as follows:
Quote:
LNS-Rheinfall: A class
SFC|LNS-Blade.of.Mars: B class
SFC|LNS-Interdictor: BC class
SFC|LNS-Philadelphia: C class
LNS-Argo: G class (DISABLED)
[LN]-LNS-MacArthur: G class
Michael.Thomson: B-snub class
LNS-Cortez.4-9: B-snub class (SHOT DOWN)
[LN]-Sam.Underwood: E-snub class
Due to the lack of specialized scout craft, we were forced to use our gunships as screens for our capital ships. It took some time for enemy resistance to materialize.
We manage to catch a lone enemy Gunboat off-guard: [X]
Moments after that, forward elements, consisting of the gunships and Sam Underwood began scouting the Hamburg area. As we passed the planet, Sam managed to catch a lone fighter. In order to prevent it from finding our capital ships, I ordered him to dispose of it.
Forward scouts of the Rheinland defence fleet began to converge on Sam's location. We were forced to send in the gunships to provide additional firepower, given the extremely limited amount of fighters we had. Suddenly numerous bombers appeared on our tail... Unfortunately the Argo began taking hits and was disabled soon after.
The MacArthur came under fire next, but the timely assistance of two Freelancers helped our cause. They have been compensated for their effort for managing to destroy one bomber.
Captain Xiger onboard the Philadelphia managed to call additional reinforcements. When more enemy ships appeared, I hesitated to send additional ships... minding the amount of bombers the enemy had.
At Captain Xiger's insistence, the Philadelphia and the Rattler, two specially-equipped cruisers were sent in to thin out the bombers. LNS-Cortez.4-9 was shot down as well.
With the appearance of two Rheinland capital ships, we sent in the rest of the fleet.
Philadelphia and Rattler both scored a kill: [X] & [X]
Michael Thomson managed to catch one as well, but unfortunately we were not able to register the kill.
Missiles of the Harbinger caught a lazy fighter: [X]
No losses were incurred during the retreat. Overall another victory.
My commendations to both the SFC| Captains, for their superb performance against the enemy, and Sam Underwood, for doing an exemplary performance in scouting.
