I was patrolling around the general area of New York and stopped at Norfolk Shipyard to relax and scan for contraband. While dong so I met Officer Moe on duty, we exchange chit-chat while scanning cargo holds. Several moments past and nothing peculiar took place, in fact everything was unusually quiet.
In a turn of events, Moe tells me he picked up a freighter with artifacts in its hold, so of course I accompanied him after said suspect. We chased them through Pennsylvania and till California, what started close to Manhattan and taken us through a jumphole and into the clouds around Willard Research station. The freighter possessed Ageira credentials, the first red flag since the LSF usually use their own freighters for sensitive transport, in the case where the transport is LSF owned they are entitled to exceptions. This freighter lacked such permissions, so of course we ordered him to jettison his cargo. Regardless of who was escorting the freighter, the freighter is not entitled to such exceptions in the law since he is not an official member of the LSF nor is he involved in any such matters directly. The LSF pilots told us to back off, that we were intervening in matters we had no authority in. I asked the freighter to drop his cargo one more time and he did not. I gave Moe the order to go weapons free and things got very messy very quickly. In the confusion the freighter was damaged rather badly but managed to evade and dock along with one of its escorts called Devastation. The second escort called Shadowy was too slow and was locked out again by Moe. Although we had engaged only the freighter the LSF agents opened fire on us, so we returned the same. Shadowy continued to defend himself but it was no use. He attempted to escape using the trade lanes near California minor but I was quick to shoot them out of working order and then turn to do the same to his shields as Moe lined up shots with as many of his turrets as possible. It only got worse for the escort fighter as he eventually dodged in the wrong direction and took a blast of turret fire straight to the cock-pit. His craft buckled and tore itself into debris upon the impact.
Despite the transport escaping we managed to recover and dispose of some of the artifacts and cardamine. The legitimacy of this operation conducted supposedly with full approval by the LSF is still unknown. But there's a strong sense of corruption that a case like this reeks of.
Stay Vigilant,
Ensign Avery Reeves, Liberty Navy Primary Fleet.
