Incoming Transmission Liberty Navy, First Fleet
Commanding Officer LNS Daring
Captain Jack Boehm
ATTN: First Fleet Reporting Office:
Admirals,
What looked to be a fairly uneventful patrol today changed almost immediately upon our unmooring from West Point. We went to head towards California, and after only a few seconds of travel down the trade lane to the gate, we detected a Corsair transport headed the other way. Quickly turning around to pursue, we managed to catch them in orbit of Houston as they attempted to flee towards Hudson. The vessels captain stated that they were attempting to flee some larger threat and for some reason felt it was a good idea to do so through Libertonian space. Feeling a bit unsettled by the potential need to simply slaughter a transport crew, regardless of their origin, I gave them the opportunity to abandon their cargo and flee our space.
The transport captain refused and then tried to bribe me. During this exchange, a LSF fighter arrived and provided some assistance. Upon refusal of the bribe, we opened fire on the transport, and only moments later two additional gunboats came out of the trade lane. One was a Liberty Rogue vessel, which almost immediately moved in to assist the transport. I'm not particularly sure why a Liberty Rogue would be interested in assisting a Corsair, but I didn't have the time to think about it at the moment.
Fortunately, the other gunboat was a 46th Fleet vessel, the LNS Kennedy which immediately moved in and engaged the Rogue. With out backs covered we quickly dispatched the transport and offered to assist the Kennedy, but they said they had it handled, which they quickly proved accurate. Upon confirmation that they were able to return to the Arkansas under their own power, we made our way to Houston to keep the mooring area clear for the repair crews to deal with the Kennedy.
Will attach relevant logs below, report concluded.
