-Started patrol at New York, quickly got an incoming comm transmission from a *DW-Apache* BHG Gunboat of a smuggler by the name of AceOfSpades smuggling Cardimine into Houston. Upon arrival at Planet Houston, the smuggler had fled to Hamburg, and shortly after, dropped off my scope. Keep an eye out for this guy.
-While maintaining orbit above Houston, I recieved a comm transmission from a Rheinland trader named Von_Claussen_Jr. who was hauling engine components to Magellan. I cleared him passage since he promised to keep his stay in Liberty very short.
Soon after I recieved a distress call from him near the NY Jump Gate -> Planet Houston trade lane. I docked with the trade lane immediately, but before I made it, the trader was destroyed by an Outcast (Gliesenau I believe) piloting a Lane Hacker Gunboat. Being heavily outgunned in my standard issue Liberator, I made a hasty retreat and called in the previously mentioned Hunter Apache. Waiting for them to arrive, an IMG vessel titled Warspite offered to take care of the troublemaker. He took off down the trade lane and the Outcast fled into a nearby debris field. The IMG vessel, not giving chase, jumped to New York about the time the DW-Apache made it to Texas.
We proceeded to scan the debris field for awhile, before Apache discovered him jumping to NY via a jump hole. Taking the risk, we followed suit and proceeded into the rift. It was a bit of a rougher ride than its safely constructed counterpart, but we arrived more-or-less in one piece in the New York Badlands. Making a precarious scan of our position, we found no trace of him.
We called off the search and parted ways, only to join up a few minutes later when I was knocked out of a trade lane by our fugitive. I hung back and the Apache appeared within moments, as well as a Liberty Gunboat flown by a military officer named Bean. We then found ourselves in, most likely, the longest chase of our lives. Our quandry proceeded to cruise at a diagonal axis above Manhatten after my CD missed it's mark. We gave chase so far that I couldn't even make out Manhatten from my position, and the sun grew dim. After nearly an hour of chase and 350ks of space flight, the Outcast; probably fearing the violent ion storms that lie in the outer reaches of New York space; altered his heading far enough that Apache was able to hit him with a CD. A short, but violent firefight ensued, and the Outcast Gunboat was destroyed. We then started the long flight back to civilization. I'm currently docked at Newark, where I am logging this message.
