Battle report
Sir,
During a patrol through the California System, the HF cruiser VultureOfDeath was spotted attacking near Los Angeles. As per orders, I moved to engage, although sadly I was unable to do any significant damage to the cruiser. I was, however, able to keep him busy long enough to contact other ships in the area and request their help. Thanks mostly to the invaluable aid of Admiral Greylin of the LSF and a pilot called Valkyrie, we were able to drive the VultureOfDeath back through the Cortez jump hole. Right after he retreated, a couple of other ships (cevolved and Vaporlinx) showed up to assist, but the HF cruiser did not reengage us.
I'm extremely impressed with the willingness of both Liberty Navy and neutral pilots to help deal with this threat. As already mentioned, Admiral Greylin and Valkyrie were especially helpful: they were the ones who did enough damage to the cruiser to force a retreat. My top-of-the-line Vengeance lasers and magma hammers couldn't penetrate his shields past the 80% level. I humbly submit that it would be wise if we make it a goal to get all SA fighters outfitted with anti-capship weapons.
If I've seen anything, it's that when we have enough pilots helping, the HF doesn't stand a chance. And also from what I've seen, there are plenty of pilots out there willing to fight to defend Liberty. We just need to let them know that their help is needed, and they will come. As reported above, one out-of-system communication to Admiral Greylin and one system-wide broadcast for assistance mustered a total of four pilots (besides myself) willing to fight. That is a force to be reckoned with indeed.
