This is just a quick amendment to our earlier report. Following the hasty reconstruction of our ship (allowed by the aforementioned tactic), we investigated the Junker Destroyer Maelstrom as we thought it extremely unusual for the ship to act in any way against us; our previous experiences with its captain have all been very positive.
After communication with the Captain of the Destroyer, it seems that he was simply investigating our battle and was fired upon due to a hostilities recognition error on the LNS Pacific. Being a dreadnaught, it wasn't long before the Pacific 'accidentally' damaged the Destroyer to a dangerous level such that defensive action was necessary on the Junker's behalf. This was interpreted as an attack by allied pilots, however information beyond this point is unavailable to us at the moment. Vergil is working hard combing the databases of the Navy channels and, uh, the other ships' too.
As this was the situation, I recommend the Maelstrom be left alone and 'scotch-free' in terms of incrimination for a non-existent crime.
