All I know is some sort of issue prevents the devs from enabling the plugin until it's solved. I would really like to play my PoB again. I miss it from the place I have built it.

Anyone knows what that issue is? I don't even dare to ask when they will be back. I'm sure all the answers will be top fun Soon™.

I believe there's an exploit that allows for hacking credits into the game using a POB. Two bases where wiped off the face of the earth due to that glitch/hack/unintended feature and I think it was disabled while Cannon re-codes the plugin to fix it.

Due to an issue with the player base plugin, however, the bases are going to be disabled and will remain offline until the issue is fixed. Since this bug is entirely server-side, you can expect the fix to be implemented independent of the scheduled client-side updates. A notice will be posted to let base owners know 1 week in advance when the bug is fixed and the plugin is scheduled to be re-enabled.

That's all that we know for sure, so just sit tight and wait it out.

Thanks Switchback for the only useful answer. To all others: I wasn't interested in the date as I know it's so uncertain not even devs can answer it. I was interested in the reason. If I wanna see Soon™s I'm gonna ask when 4.88 is gonna be out.
