Name:Caleb Oh Gender:Male Age:23 Birthplace:
Harlan County, Tanglewood Province, Planet Houston Previous Occupation(s):
Ranchhand, Tinker, Inmate (textile manufacturing on Sugarland), low-level Xeno pilot
Biography:
My extended family (the Jenkins' and Taylors, mostly) owned a bunch of ranches out in the Tanglewood province. They weren't too profitable, since it's bone-dry out there, but we made do.
Then Synth Foods decided they wanted the land to produce that gray crap they pass off as food. They called up the LPI, got a pile of false charges dumped on me and mine. I was twelve, so they couldn't throw me in the joint proper; I had to learn to survive on my own in the slums by repairing broken appliances and optronics once I got out of juvie.
Wound up in the wrong place at the wrong time a while later, did a year and a half on Sugarland. It would've been more, but they couldn't really make the charges stick on me. Still, I'm pretty sure Judge Winson was on the take from someone or other. Down in the slums, you notice pretty quick that the honest cops and judges don't last all that long.
While I was hemming dresses on Sugarland, I got recruited into the Xenos. For a while I genuinely thought getting rid of all the foreigners would let Liberty rebuild properly. But then I actually flew for them, and I saw just how vicious they could be. I'm not opposed to working with them from time to time, but I don't want civilians' blood on my hands.
Reasons for joining us:
I was with the Xenos for a few months because I thought they could do it. I've since turned to the Legion because I've got scruples, dammit, and I don't like the idea of gunning down civilians.
But ultimately? I've watched Liberty's version of corporatism chew up and spit out my entire family, and more friends than I can count. And hell, I've been lucky, all things considered. Especially compared to some of the poor saps I saw in jail, or wasting away in the slums. It has to stop, and we need to rediscover our humanity again. What's profitable or easy has to give way to what's right.
***OOC PART OF APPLICATION***
Have you ever been sanctioned? If so, what for? Do you feel you've learnt your lesson from that? I honestly don't remember -- I've been playing on Disco on and off since 2007, mind -- but I don't believe so.
I've been reminded that, indeed, I was once briefly sanctioned for carrying a spare ID for a friend, but I can't seem to find it in the archives. But yeah, I've kept on the good side of the rules since then, and intend to continue doing so.
Having Skype is a requirement because we of the need to be able to communicate with all members easily. What is your Skype ID?
