To: The respected admiralty Subject: Pain wants back in/Re-assignment. Beginning transmission...
Pain here. After my last engagement with the navy I was put out of action for a long while. I was trying to get a pack of Mandalorian mercs off of Golry Hole's tail when suddenly everything went black. I was in a coma for the past month it seems. Thank god Mr. Sweeney was there to pick up my pod to bring me back home. The doctors from the Leniex medical facility told me I was unable to begin actively fighting again until my full recovery. The fractured ribs and shoulder blade will take 3 months to heal. As you may have guessed it, I couldn't wait for that long.
Yesterday I ran off from the hospital, I just could not handle the urge to shoot a few navy boys. My ship was nowhere to be found though, and as I've found out, it was completely obliterated in that said last clash. I picked up one of the old "Cutlass" bombers that were available and headed towards Liberty...
A duo of LN arrived and I thought it was time to leave the scene. My aching body and rusty ship were no match for opponents of such class. I fled for the Texas jump hole. In Texas I forgot to drop down the shades on my cockpit window. While almost going blind, my unprepared vision detected a darkened spot above the sun, which contrasted quite vividly with the light that engulfed everything else. After rubbing my eyes for a few minutes I headed towards the said object. As it turned out it was a space station located just over the top of the sun. The architects placed it conveniently within the sun's corona, thus exposing every craft to strong radiation. The owners are unknown and as you can see the Hellfire don't have docking rights for that base. I decided to fire an innocent shot of anti-matter at it just to check if it had a shield generator. Not only a shield was activated. The "aptly" named Sunflower Inn had a defensive turret stationed nearby, which opened fire on me. I refrained from continuing any further attacks on the station, figured HC would want have a look at it first. It is supposedly newly built, with a few defensive mechanisms. Later that day I heard a rumor at the Cali Minor bar that the base was regularly supplied by 3 foreign mega-corporations, still unknown, and that the owner has ties with the Liberty Navy. Though these rumors are not confirmed, I strongly advise our intel division to dig in to the matter.
Speaking of 'later that day', upon my return in California, I located a "Bison" class trade ship of the SAD division of the LAF. The Bison was apprehended by a rogue gunboat, which went by the alias of "Expeses". He is a renown LR affiliate, and if I recall correctly, Mr. Sweeney and I have engaged him on numerous occasions. He got the officer to release 40 of the prisoners on board, claiming "they were his comrades". I quickly took advantage of the situation and shot down most of their pods before the gunboat captain could notice. All those rogue pilots that were about to be set free and cause chaos in Liberty were turned in to space dust.
Well, what do you think? Not bad for a lieutenant, who is supposedly recovering from his traumas in a bed somewhere at Leniex. Those doctors are really soft, plus they over exaggerate stuff too much. I feel confident enough to be put back in to action.
On a separate note: I am not working in any particular squadron since my departure from active duty. I would like to be assigned to the Beta-bomber wing, with access to a newer ship, if possible. However, I still feel that my abilities are being wasted on these regular "spartan-like" suicide missions. I hope that in time I would get the opportunity to apply for the SAD or AR divisions and develop my full potential there.
Pain signing out.
Transmission ended.
ADDENDUM: As assigned by admiral Kinnaird himself, I undertook a journey to Texas once more in order to keep a close eye on the newly discovered station. After several hours of patient waiting, a Zoners' "Nephilim" appears on the scene. The ship approached the station and without providing proper explanation he opened fire on it.
Soon one of the suppliers of the base arrived. It was a "Titanic" class transport. His ID suggested that he worked for Samura, which was mostly odd. He soon fled the vicinity as the shield did not allow him to dock.
The situation became even more absurd when an Outcasts' "Ranseur" joined the Zoner and opened fire on the station. He claimed that he was paid to take it down. I could not manage to get that dreadnought to leave Liberty space, a single bomber would not cut it. At least I managed to extract from him some information about the owner. As it turns out it is a project of the 41st.
However, their installation was obliterated by these weapons for mass destruction...
