*George's anger could tear you atom from atom* It has come to my attention that you want to recruit my most rebellious of my sisters into your... organisation.
*he takes a sip of a very dark brown whisky* This is unacceptable, my family has been loyal to Bretonia and Britain before it for over twelve centuries at the very least.
*he glares even deeper into the camera* And I am not prepared to break that loyalty.
*he takes a cigar and lights it* Tell my why I should allow this?
Apologies, Antioch, Edwards is currently unavailable. I, however, am here to answer.
I have flown next to Matilda on a number of occasions and can assure you that we would very much like her to enlist in the Colonial military. Your issue with this seems to stem from the fact that we are not Bretonia. Being of British descent myself, allow me to elaborate on a few things that might convince you otherwise.
Firstly, there are many citizens within the Colonies that hail from the old British Isle of Earth. Now, you may say that Bretonia has this also, but the difference is that Bretonia has a very large, although recently slightly depleted, miltary.
The Colonies do not. Every Colonial pilot contributes more to the whole than a Bretonian one, because they are protecting Colonial citizens, including those of British descent, whereas a Bretonian pilot is one of many. Each one of our pilots is valued more than your average cannon fodder snub pilot. Every Colonial station, planet and ship protected is a former British interest protected, whereas a Bretonian counterpart protected is just another chess piece.
Consider these words carefully before you send your reply. Voss out.

*George's left eye twitches* So you pulling the nationalism card, it's more complicated than that.
You claim that you are of British descent?
So how thick is it, us Antiochs can trace our ancestry to Queen Victoria almost directly.
*he pauses as he take a drink out of a large glass* Another thing your nation is called the Colonial Republic is it not?
The problem is with the Republic part.
My family has defended the Crown since before the English Civil War in the seventeenth century AD, have you seen her yelled for the Queen in battle?
Also my family has had issues with certain kinds of republicans in the past, mainly me being stabbed quite literally in the back, and me and my Father were members of the Royalist Party in Bretonia.
*he takes an even bigger swig out of his drink* I am trying to do what is best for my family as our blood line has rapidly decreased in numbers in the last few decades.
But I am not straying into an active war-zone when I have more pressing issues concerning my wife.
*he looks around then moves closer to the camera* I am doing this not as a stubborn bigot but as someone who fears for the safety of his family and Nation.
Antioch, I fully understand a person's concern for his family. I can also understand if you have issues with our form of government. So let me clarify two key points.
Firstly, the Colonial government is currently, in all honesty, almost non-existent due to the Gallic attacks on us in the Taus. However, I can understand if this does not totally reassure you, but keep in mind that Bretonia will retain her queen whether we are a Republic or not. When I joined the Colonial military it was not about government, but about retaking our home. I imagine it would be a similar case with your Matilda. Be it wages, vengeance, retaking the Taus, or simply protecting innocents.
Secondly, allow me to assure you that the Colonies are far more protective of our personnel than, for example, Bretonia. The reason for this should be obvious. We do not have the manpower of one of the larger houses. So, if it is the safety of your family you are hoping for, consider them safer in our ranks than Bretonian ones.
I hope this will put you at ease. I will be forwarding these communications to Edwards, perhaps if he gets off his lazy backside he'll feel like offering a voice as well.
Anitoch, your bloodline may very well trace almost directly to Queen Victoria. One day Matilda may very well marry and have children, if it’s not good Bretonian blood, what does it matter? She is old enough to choose as she wishes. I can assure you that Freelancing on her own when others do not care about her getting hurt is not a good thing for her at all. When she joins our ranks, I can assure you that she will be far safer with us than she was Freelancing on her own. She is a good pilot and will do you and your family proud. We fight for the same cause. I know you care an awful lot for her but let her make her own decisions. I’m sure if you were told what you can and can’t do all your life you would be most displeased. If she was asking to sign up to the Gallic Royal Navy I would see your anger, she is not.
I can’t say I've seen her yell for the Queen in battle. Only that of death to the Royalists which you Bretonians and us Colonials believe in.
No one is going to get stabbed in the back here, stop thinking of your past. If ever Bretonia and the Colonials fall out, which I highly doubt I’m certain she will leave our ranks. We fight for the same greater good.
Listen carefully George. Matilda, your sister will be safer with us than on her own in the sky. Maybe we can meet for a quiet drink to discuss this further?
