Basically a cloak which lasts twice as long, but does not make your ship invisible, only removes your name from the radar. Your ship is still selectable and such, and it cannot be effectively used mid-battle, but can make the enemies look around a bit after jumping through a gate or such, allowing you to hide behind the gate or NPCs or whatever.
Obviously, it would be best used on small ships, which would give LFs a cloak type of their own.

I kind of like it. Catching people off guard in open space at a distance would be cool on smaller ships, and I think it might work for this whole "espionage" thing some people seem to want.

I think something like an electronic jammer that reduces your visibility to scanners, without the optical camouflage element would be a great idea.
With the current equipment, scanners boost your scanning range, while cloaks remove you completely from such list of targets. The electronic jammer could work with any of the following effects (concept might be different from op intended):
- reduce your ship signature, making the maximum scanner range to detect you on other ships smaller.Ship is visible, but others would need to be closer than normal to detect you on the list.
- reduce scanner range for all ships in a area affected by the jamming ship. Either the jammer or the jammer group is immune to the effects.
My doubt is if the game has the capability to create such effects originated by a player, since the current cloak is (I think) just removing the player form several game functions.
