The Independent Mining Guild is one of the most prominent ship-building factions in Sirius. The Gunboat is their most recent development: a light, agile, and powerful craft that is ideal for anti-fighter defense and capital ship support.
The discovery readme states that the IMG Gunboat is available "somewhere in Bretonia"

viper MKI Wrote:The Viper was originally developed by Toledo engineers. Due to lack of resources, The Order could not build more than a few ships of this type, and production was transferred to Zoners. In the recent years, Zoners, Independent Mining Guild, and Gas Mining Guild were building Vipers in small numbers for sale.

Viper MKII Wrote:The Viper Mk II is an advanced version of the original Viper. Developed by Toledo's engineers, this very heavy fighter is built by Gas Mining Guild and Zoners. Regular civilian pilots rarely use this ship due to its high price and high maintenance costs. However, the Mk II proved reliable even in the most dangerous combat situations, and many freelancers consider this ship worth its price.

RT Wrote:Raven's Talon was designed by Independent Miners Guild for commercial purposes. Excellent speed, extended power capacity, and well-known quality standards of IMG made this ship popular on black market. Raven's Talon is one of the best very heavy fighters available for pirates and mercenaries - and surely most expensive.

As a political figure for the Mandalorians, I must confess that I have kept that ship as a sign of status, for PR reasons. Too bad it eventually got spammed to oblivion (though nowadays I don't see many of them anymore). From an RP standpoint, the ship in itself sends a message. An RP oriented player will ask himself, "What have these guys done to be granted access to those ships?" It also helps send the message that we are consistent and loyal, not lawful.
Quote:My point is - it gives a wrong impression to other people who meet you in space.
So they say : "If mandalorians can fly BD, why GC/Outcasts can't?"
Because the ship wasn't taken, it was given. If we can't grow up to be mature about RPing, then what are we doing here? People always say that with a good enough (written) story can get you to fly pretty much anything. The story of the Mandalorians getting involved in the Bretonia/Kusari in both the Bretonian front working for the Queen and the Kusarian front working for the Blood Dragons is something that I'm certain wasn't expected by the community to come out of an "import" mercenary faction. There's depth to our characters, there's consistency to our actions, we play our stories in an above standard level both in game through actions and outside through written stories (really, take a look at the tales). The funniest part of it all is that this story wasn't meant to get us the fighters, but it ended up happening.
As Flo has said, the BD ships we have are relics from that story. As a faction, the Mandalorians never had access to those ships. The ships were restricted by us to the Mandalore and the Consulate. From the four people, three have taken the opportunity to use them. Two of those have already relinquished the ships with my character lingering with it, because he thinks it's an important symbol. I'm not being stubborn over it because it has a PvP advantage. If it does, I'm don't think I'm the kind of pilot who can tap it. From a PvP standpoint, I'd much rather fly a Sabre than the BD.
So, to address the issue again...
Quote:"If mandalorians can fly BD, why GC/Outcasts can't?"
The way I see it, this is similar to the difference between family and friends. If an Outcast was to question Ranov'la in space about his right to use the BD when he wasn't entitled so, he'd say: "When was the last time you went to Chugoku to help the Blood Dragons defend their space, or went to New Tokyo to harm the KNF in their name?"
People go to Chugoku, point to their infocards and say, "It says here that you are supposed to be friendly with me. I want your stuff." They aren't exactly playing their diplomacies.
One of the blessings of being a generic entity is that you have to strive for your alliances, you can't take them for granted. We understand that and that's why we act consistently and with dedication towards our clients and partners. That's what have granted us clearance in Rheinland during the mercenary ban. That's what allows to approach the Dragons and the Outcasts. That's what has granted us with permanent contracts with three of the four House governments. That's what has made us permanent providers for Gateway, Synth Foods, Constrict Store and a number of other clients that favor us in their job offers.
Now, am I to burn all that just because there will be people who won't be able to get over themselves to recognize a reasonable story behind an exception?
Anyway, chopper. I see your point and I agree with you when you say that this is an issue worthy of attention. Currently we use three hubs to station our ships so we can muster our forces in a timely fashion. Two of those are pretty active, while the third is almost inactive. I've already taken the BD there. I'll also pay more attention to where and what I do with it, in order to avoid the commotion.
I'm not getting rid of the ship, though. Take a look at the new BD faction status text:

My character isn't ready to spit in the Blood Dragon's faces by just dumping something they've granted him out of respect for his actions towards them. He will, though, honor their name should he be asked to return the ship because it's too much a political nuisance to their people to have him flying around in it.
if there is a newer MM feedback thread, someone please direct me too it, but this is the only one i found.
anyways, a little while ago, i was in oemga 47, and got chased to omega 5 by MM~Vau.Bendak.
i lost him and jumped to omega 41, where i docked on leon base. a few minutes later, after restocking, i undocked and went to the O5 hole to wait for traders. i then saw him briefly about 8 k away. then he dissapeared from my scanners.
i then proceeded to go back to leon, where i discovered that he had been docking there. and was not hostile. he then almost decided to attack me. and was talking about the bounty not getting paid becasue he would be neutral to leon. i made several comments about it, and he finally pulled back to about 2.6k. the patrols still neutral to him.

I had an encounter with a couple of your pilots a few weeks back as my corsair character and just wanted to congratulate them on their performance
I can't remember names, but its not the names that matter, it's the faction...well RP'ed and not at all trigger happy and they sent me home in a body bag
Good to know there's mercenaries with style out there
A small thumbs up from my Buccaneer. It's so much more fun when we need to look out for MM trouble...
Having a MM jump in the middle of a Buc| group usually has the same effect as a stone landing in the middle of a flock of birds. Although a stone doesn't try to kill the birds after it lands:unsure:
Good interaction so far, anyway.
