I used to make alot of ships fro bridge commander and a few other games.. But mostly when I stopped teaching introduction to 3d and 3d animation I fell out of it.
Though I still have these models I have yet to endeavor to convert them for use for freelancer or .. do any freelancer modeling.
in anycase.. these are the ships.. Consider thier placement where they can fit in discovery.. whitch ones youd like to see in game etc.
I have a half dozen others. but for question asking Im posting these.
I could definitely see the first one as a luxury liner. Based somewhat on the design of the sleeper ships, it would allow far more people to enjoy themselves. It wouldn't be cheap, though. Probably close to cruiser or battleship price range, but without the capital class equipment.
I'd hate to use the tradelanes in one, though.
Cargo stats would have to be carefully weighed, as we probably wouldn't want it to be too tempting to use for generic cargo hauling. Maybe make it equal to the Whale in capacity, at 3-4x the price.
Edit: I made a few quick outlines in Paint to show my ideas for adjustments to the first one.

The red lines show areas that I think could be cut away or added to to make it fit better.
Specifically, I think the top should go straight back instead of tapering down to a point like it is now, and one of the engines should be coming out of it. The wings are too bulky and should be slimmed down quite a bit, as well as the curvature from the top down view adjusted a bit. Finally, the forward engine pod can be cut away, giving the ship a slightly smaller profile. I like the Icebreaker look of the bow, though.
Of course, these are my opinions. As for actually modeling them, I wouldn't know where to start.
Edit 2: Looks like I totally misinterpreted the top-down view. In that case, flip the wings around the other way.
the first one could be a larger firefly - something like 4500 cargo, 10 turrets
(there was a post somewhere about there not being a civilian freighter, only kusari/bretonianberty)
The first one could be used as a Luxury Liner. Issues with tradelanes could be solved by upping it's cruise speed to 700 maybe? (Simply use another engine. Cruise speeds can be assigned per engine it turns out)
Wouldn't need huge cargo space either. Liners are used for pleasure and not cargo hauling so they would only need supplies for the passengers and crew. Quite a lot yes but nothing more than a transport full I would say.

That wouldn't be a good idea, firstly because of the anti-cheat setup on the server. Also, it's hard enough to go 350 in an asteroid field. 700 is just plain insane.
