Bonjour, Monsieur Kelly.
I need your help. I'm contacting you about Freeport 14. Recently, the number and intensity of pirate attacks have greatly increased, which is extremely worrying. Thus, I would like to request a complete overhaul and upgrade of the security systems on the station. These range from the station turrets to the security cameras. I'd like to know how long this would take, and what would be needed. Merci.
Sorry for the delay, I just returned from Corinth Research Station. Technically it's not that demanding to improve the security. However, the time and materials needed depend on what exactly you need.
I have taken the liberty of accessing the blueprints of Freeport 14 and would like to suggest the following:
First, I would start with reinforcing the containment of the reactor core along with a sophisticated physical and data access control. It's the most crucial system and therefore cannot be safe enough.
Second: The security cameras, well it's just a question of placing them. Usually ceiling-mounted 360°-Cameras are used in combination with motion sensors and containment fields.
Lastly: Turrets. I hate to break it to you, but even the most advanced ones are simply no substitution for a security wing. They can be a great addition to provide a certain delay and allowing the security wing to engage with a plan. Same thing for the anti-person turrets inside the station.
Attached are the brochures for the mentioned and several other security implementation that might fit your situations.
Best regards

Bonjour, Monsieur Kelly.
I agree that the reactor core could use a bit of tinkering. I'll leave it up to you, since I'm not too familiar with station power cores. For the security systems, I'd also like to add scanners in the docking bays and entrances to scan for any undesirable items such as guns, bombs, and other lovely little things. And about the defense wings and turrets... A wing is much more expensive than turrets, both to hire and maintain. I'd rather not go too much over budget. So if you could just upgrade the turrets and their targeting software, it would be helpful. For the rest, I'll leave it up to you.
Let me say something first: If it were anyone else, I'd take this opportunity to go straight to the limit of your budget. So never ever issue such a "blank check" again.
As for the upgrade of Freeport 14: The reinforcement of the reacor core will need about 5000 units of ablative armor plating and 10'000 units of reinforced alloy. As for the turrets I fear a simple upgrade of the software will not do. I would recommend additionally replacing the old optronics with new optical chips, for the existing turrets we'll need about 4000 units of these.
The cost of acquiring and transportation of the goods as well as the on-site labor will be around 25'000'000 Credits. I believe, however, that Freeport 14 cann apply for partial or even complete founding of this project by "Zonder Developement Fund". If that is your wish, I can advise my secretary to organice a meeting between you and a representative of ZDF the next time you're in Las Palmas.
Best regards

Bonjour, Monsieur Kelly.
If possible, I would indeed prefer the involvement of the Zoner Development Fund. I'll make my way to Las Palmas as soon as possible.
