Okay so, I am on my trader. I take the lane between Manhattan and WP. Along the way, I see a huge fight between LN, Reavers, Flares, Rogues and whatnot.

I dock on WP.

Log my LN indie.

I get sanctioned then?

yep. that's still powergaming - but a mild version of it.

however, if you ask to join the furball - then not powergaming. in the example, they didnt ask the barge if it was cool to have a scrap (he'da said noez im thinking), but they used scouts that should not have been in contact with their attacking ships.

if they had used a freelancer as a scout, then that would have been fine and dandy - the freelancer could have been 'caught' and the demand could be 'find the barge or we hunt you down and kill you'. even if they were all friends in real life, that would not have been against the spirit of the rules of engagement.

When you start RP'ing with someone on one char, then dock/log another char to take care of the char you RP'd with previously, then it's powergaming.

Seeing a fight go on that you aren't involved with, docking, and logging a new one is not powergaming, as you were not involved with said conflict.

TL; DR - Don't RP with someone, then immediately log another ship to take care of said person.

Or maybe there is more to the story than what is made public.

Keep in mind, the admin who posts sanctions is not the only deciding admin. It's a process between multiple people to look at all the evidence, then once everyone agrees on it, then one person posts a public message. So, whether or not an Admin was having a bad day or not, wouldn't have have affected the sanction.

If you meet a player in game, particularly one that you have problems with OORP, discover he's in a fully loaded barge, log your battleship in order to force him to drop all his cargo, then yes, you will get sanctioned.
