Liberty Navy alligned explorer ship.

Well i have been thinking about how to RP this properly for a while a Liberty Navy IFF/ID'd ship for exploration of the outer rim for resources and habitable planets. Which then reports back to the liberty Government on its findings.

Ship wise i'm thinking probably a Gunboat or cruiser. (If cruiser i will make it recommissioned. Having several weaker GB turrets on board to emphasize its use as a non-warship.)

Crew sided it would probably be commanded by a Navy Officer (It being a older navy Warship of some kind.) But i am thinking of having 80% of the crew as civilian scientists. Mostly from Agiera, DSE and Planetform.

Obviously i would RP this all on forums. (Through ships logs, stories ect.) I would also write a bio for the CO, XO and the scientists representing the Civilian corporations.

Only few problems i can think of is that there is no inrp way that i know of to get to the border worlds without flying through another houses territory. Would any of the other houses allow the ship through or would i have to sneak through? Also where would i dock the ship on these far our missions. Freeports in the border worlds? I would not repair the ship except for nanobots while out in the border worlds, meaning the ship would have to return to liberty each time it took some heavy damage.

Also a real newb question here does a cruiser need a BS licence? And is either the GB or cruiser included in LN's restriction on the higher end liberty ships?

I also know the ship would be way out of its normal ZOI so i would not shoot at, fire or try to do anything i should not do outside the ZOI. The ships hold will also be full of Space Crew, HFuel, Consumer Goods and Food rations. Along with water and a small amount of Pharmaceuticals. If i rp that its a crew of 12 and the ship is in the border worlds for max time i would have about 6 days in the border worlds with the Gunboat. (Due to the ships engines consuming fuel and the crew needing food water and the consumer goods to stay healthy.)

Thats all i have for now, some constructive criticism is welcomed. (First time i have tried this sort of RP).

No you do not need a BS Lisencse, Nor do you need one for a Battlecruiser either...

Probably should go for a Gunboat, and head to Bretonia first...

on a side note, your character will be vaped by the 522nd the moment you reach Libertys outer rim...

That has been expected and planned for. I dont spend money equipping a GB/Cruiser ship lightly. Nor do i buy one lightly. The 522nd will have a job on thier hands.

Well of course not you would probably give it a good amount of armor since RP-wise youd be in deep space... Get it ready for the Borderworlds.

But meanwhile, I see no problem with it aslong as everything can be worked out RP wise to an extent of workability.

Well the point is to have it as a poorly funded project at the start (An bad equipped Gunboat). Only able to spend 3-4 days out of liberty space. (Talking a 500k range as i wont be cruising often to conserve fuel.) The problem with Armour is if i equip Armour on a gunboat it means less food supplies which = less time out in the border worlds. As the ship begins to discover useful ores out in the border worlds (Niobium ect.) The government will put more weight on the project till the recommissioned cruiser is launched as the gunboat has served its purpose and it now useless (they have explored everything in its range.)
