My old laptop was good in a way that whenever I had a game that wasn't 16:9 (the ratio of the screen), the screen would scale it and then keep the aspect ratio through black bars so that the video wasn't stretched.
But now I have both a 16:10 screen for my desktop and a 16:9 screen for my windows tablet, and whenever I try to run one of those old games without or with limited widescreen support, it always stretches the video and that just completely ruins the experience for me.
I tried to fiddle with the graphics settings in the intel graphics control panel but I couldn't find the proper controls for retaining the aspect ratio, so I figure it's probably a hardware thing of the screen.
But I still would very much like to play my games in the correct aspect ratio, so either there's some hardware setting I missed or there must be some kind of software fix that forces the correct aspect ratio.
Any help would be appreciated.
edit: I'm looking for a generic software solution that doesn't require me to have a specific gpu, fyi
There are settings for a "keep aspect ratio" in the video card control panel, you just need to find them. Or change the versions, maybe old ones have it. Just google the hell out of it, it's possible. I can change to a 16:9 aspect ratio in a 4:3 monitor, i searched a lot for the settings.
well i found it on my desktop that has the nvidia card and drivers, however my tablet which is a bay trail atom tablet says that my monitor does not support the advanced settings, which is why I would like a software solution.
why does anyone try to play games on tablets or phones or computers? Because games are fun. And because my tablet has the power to run it. And because I want to.
