Powertrading

Every once in a while, I'll see this term in the forums: power trading.

It has negative connotations, but I've never seen a real definition of the term.

How would you define "power trading"?

Depends who you talk to.
Generally the term here refers to people who trade to make the most profit, regardless of Roleplay mostly.

Outside of Disco (Or certain people) it tends to mean people who play at the MAX. IE if I traded 24 hours a day, that's power trading, even with RP.

In Disco though, it tends to have more negative feelings.

I can define it...

1. find the most money/per time route
2. get the ship with biggest cargo hold
3. get Zoner ID (no matter what tag you have) (saying "zoners are neutral" to all pirates)

4. go back and forth on that route all the time never changing it, never responding to any RP talk around.


oh and buy a BS or BC and put it on a base that's in the middle of the route... if you see pirates log on that.
(the best guys have Zoner IDed BS/BCs.. attacking the pirates without a word)

Thing is, I dont understand why even the most hardcore power traders don't even participate in some of the RP banter thats going around in the systems they're passing through, I mean its not exactly hard to make some contribution to the general atmosphere. I do try to vary my route several times in a session and to stay within rp. Again, I dont understand why some people slave over these non-rp routes, as it is still possible to make a ****load of money without pissing people off. (Although, I have to confess do doing the diamond-niobium run a few times via chugoku.. what can I say, I love the danger:lol: ).
