Omicron Zeta System.
1300 Hours.
Somewhere in the Pohnpei Edge Nebula
Pilot: "This is Actual 2-1, we have entered the northern nebula. Requesting orders to proceed, over."
Command: "Actual 2-1, this is Command, you are cleared to proceed, keep your eyes open. We need those Alien Organisms for experimental purposes, Command out."
The Grizzly had entered the Pohnpei Nebula, being send to Omicron Zeta under a classified LSF project. The Grizzly was tasked with getting alien samples and perhaps find out the reason for the high nomad activity in the system.
The Grizzly had a full team of LSF agents on board to ensure security and eradicate any threat or breach that happens to the freighter
The void around the freighter was deathly silent, there was no voices inside the ship either. It slowly moved through the asteroids which were accompanied by pockets of harmless gases that gave the nebula it's color, small rocks were bumping into the ship now and then.
Mark: "I hope this mission turns out to be well...we got to get those artifacts..."
Daniyal: "I sure do hope too, did you even knew this mission wasn't simulated, we are going in without any ideas of possible outcomes! I didn't knew the LSF liked putting it's agents in danger, tho..." He smirks
Mark: "Let's hope for the best...I don't plan on getting infected today, and none of our agents..."
Daniyal: "Me neither, check your ammo, I do get a bad feeling about this, I feel we are gonna get up any moment and start blasting space jellies"
Suddenly, an announcement beeps on the transmission bars located inside the ceilings
Pilot: "This is Actual...I think we found something, hold on to something, we are activating cruise."
The Pilots had activated the cruise and the Grizzly shot off. As it zipped through the asteroids and the cloud, it suddenly came to a stop, in front of the ship was a large asteroid.
It was different, the asteroid had bumps on it, it also had purple linings, the asteroid was pulsing with purple beams as if it was a precursor. It would be the most magnificent thing someone would find in a ugly asteroid field.
Pilot: "My god...that is amazing!" He grabs the transmission mic, and then speaks, "Boys, I think we found what we are looking for! Get out those vehicles! We are taking some bits of that thing home for experimental purposes..."
The Pilot closes the mic
The two agents, Mark Wilson and Daniyal Altaf, had moved to the next deck and joined the other agents. They didn't care about their names as much as they cared about their skills, they were a part of Phantom Squad, the other squads were Banshee and Alliance.
Mark: "Hello there, men, I sure do assume you guys know what you're here for...?"
He smirks.
Squad: "Sir yes sir!"
They all get up and get into a line, facing the two agents
Daniyal: "Very well then, do you know that we can't afford to lose this one, and a screw up means we are dead?"
Squad: "Sir yes sir!"
"I shall be your Squad Leader for this one, we just need to drop in there and get that thing! and find out why the hell jellies populate this area more than any other area in this goddamn system! Daniyal will be second-in-command of this squad. So in case anything goes apeshit, you will still have someone to lead you!"
Squad: "Sir yes sir!"
"Now...get your gear and get into those armors! This isn't a vacation men!
Squad: "Roger that, sir!"
The Squad, along with the two leaders, start moving towards the armory
As they walked into the armory, there were rows of armor on each side, each with guns and weapons and oxygen, armor, fluid cells.
"Put those on! We don't got a whole day here so move!
Daniyal smirks, then moves onto his own armor stand, and starts to wear it
Omicron Zeta System.
1320 Hours.
Somewhere in the Pohnpei Edge Nebula
Pilot: This is Actual 2-1, we're closing in on the asteroid, I repeat, we're closing in on the asteroid.
Daniyal: Roger that Actual, waiting for green light. Over.
Pilot: Green light on Alpha, yellow light on Bravo.
The Grizzly hovered directly above the giant asteroid's surface as Alpha team got into their pods. One of the pilots flipped a switch and then pressed a green button, the pods of the Banshee squad were shot into the asteroid from the Grizzly.
Pilot: Banshee 1-1, Actual 2-1 will remain on field until the end of the mission, use your i-droids to call for extraction, out.
The Grizzly then started flying towards Bravo's drop point, it was on the other side of the giant white lumps coming out of the asteroid, the Grizzly slowly flew to the other side then stopped
Pilot: Green light on Bravo
Daniyal: Copy that, received.
The team climbed into their individual pods and each one of them did a 'thumbs up' gesture at Mark
Mark: We're all in, ready for drop
Pilot: Roger that, initiating drop, we shall be hanging around until the mission ends so we can pick you boys up, over.
The pods fired from the Grizzly, they flew rapidly down to the asteroid in extreme speeds, they all shot straight into the asteroid and then they opened. The men climbed out of their pods and grabbed their weapons and equipment. They all re-grouped as the pods were close to each other.
Daniyal: Report.
Squad: This is 3-1, 3-2, 3-3, 3-4, Phantom squad is ready ops sir!
Mark: Command, we're all ready ops
Command: Bravo on Phantom Squad, mission is a go, extraction is in 6 hours, get in there and find the specimen and the power cell, good luck.
Daniyal: Squad, mission is a go, we get in and get those stuff we need that's on our today's grocery list, let's move!
Mark: Form up on me, stay in a delta formation, keep your eyes peeled and cover our backs, we are fighting aliens here so stay alert.
The Squad hurriedly got into a Delta formation and then they all started running towards the structures in the asteroid.
After the landings, the squads, namely Alpha, and Phantom (Callsign Bravo), were all moving towards the purplish-white structures located on some deep slopes and small craters and ravines within the asteroid. The 'air' around them was foggy, and through the filters in their suits, the agents could 'smell' the 'air' around them, which was sightly musty and stale and smelled strongly of chlorine. It had the smells of chlorine and nitrogen and hydrogen mixed together, which would be trying to smell the exhaust fumes of a hovercar and a fire extinguisher all at once.
The soldiers, or agents. Were highly trained in all kinds of tactics and psychological warfare and Resistance-to-Interrogation and were experts in about every weapon ever seen by this century. The armor was light and strong enough to defend them with blaster rounds, but it could be penetrated by rifle rounds and blaster rounds can still kill the person wearing it.
They were all closing in on the structures, but surprisingly, they were not white at all as seen from a distance and from space, but they were greenish-black, purplish with all those pulsating purple rays starting from somewhere around the middle of each structure and ending at the foot of each structure, then those rays would continue on across the asteroid for perhaps miles and miles. The 'structures' were mostly giant domes sticking out of the hard ground. all steep and craggy and with small hills on them. They wren't hills, they were small enough to be just called 'mounds'.
There was almost no gravitational pull on the soldiers, the sky was cold and green, everything was silent except for the sounds of the footsteps of the soldiers and the purple rays that passed underneath them made a peculiar 'whoosh, wing' sound that seemed to rather annoy some of them.
Mark: This is the end of the road.
The Soldiers had marched to the foot of the domed hill. They all looked around their flanks, alert, looking for anything peculiar to jump onto their faces any moment and make it a disaster, but nothing happened.
Mark stepped closer towards the 'wall' and rubbed it, there was something white and glistening underneath it, he rubbed it more, more of the white glistening stuff came up. He gave a great big rub with his fist, and it revealed a metal underneath. The metal was not corroded because it did not react with oxygen, because there was no oxygen, and the mud layer on top of it served as a additional layer of protection too.
Found something, looks like a metal of some sort
The metal was smooth, there were structures on them, they were seperated by gaps, it seemed peculiar at first, then Mark realized something. This design seemed familiar, he had seen it somewhere. It suddenly came into his mind what it was.
Mark: Holy mother of...God...
He was awestruck by the whole thing, Daniyal walked up to him
Daniyal: Did you find something Mark?
Then Daniyal noticed the metal and the designs on it, he froze too.
Daniyal: This is...a Libertonian design! The same ones used to construct Liberty's Shipyards!
After Daniyal had spoken those words rather loud and high into the 'air'. There was complete silence, there were no more footsteps to be heard or the 'whooshing' of the wind, because there was simply no wind. But the peculiar 'Whoosh, wing' sound of the purplish rays as they passed underneath the squad in a unique floating fashion. The soldiers were still on position, with their heads turned towards the two soldiers who wren't moving at all.
Mark: "Let's find a way in!", breaking the silence.
Daniyal: "This better be worth our time, the last thing we want to expect are crazy blue reptile-aliens stalking us."
Mark: "Alright, let's take a look around."
Daniyal signalled two soldiers from the squad, who ran up to the 'wall' and started inspecting it. Mark and Daniyal did the same, they were moving their hands up and down the wall, slowly rubbing across the jagged surface, Daniyal suddenly stopped and turned around and walked towards Mark.
Daniyal: "This thing's fragile, a couple of explosives, and it'll go off, allowing us to get inside."
"Mark: That's not gonna work, do you want to attract unnecessary attention? We are better off without it."
Daniyal: It won't do much noise...after all, we're in half-space. It won't even cause a fire, there's no oxygen here.
Mark: "Let's do it then, Genius. We'll see how many aliens we'll have to shoot at the end of the day."
Daniyal: "Okay, me and one of the agents shall plant the explosives, you and the rest will stay on guard, and make it easier for us to get the hell out if anything goes sideways."
After saying that, Daniyal turned around and signaled one of the squad members to bring some explosives and come over, he handed some over to Daniyal and then they both proceeded to set up the explosives on the wall. In the end, there were about 6 blinking lights on the wall. Everything was set, Daniyal and the other soldier moved several steps back and crouched. Mark took out a remote control
Mark: "Okay...here goes nothing."
A click sound is heard, and then the awful noise of raining and pelting rocks and splintering metal. The explosion came off perfectly and made a large hole into the 'structure'
Mark: "Alright everyone! Move! Move!"
The Soldiers quickly moved into the hole, it was all dark around them. They all activated their flashlights. They were flabbergasted at what they saw.
After the squad had activated their flashlights, they had seen something astonishing, they were standing in a large corridor, large enough for a defender to move across without bumping, the corridor was of Libertonian design, there was a lot of dust and mud around them.
Daniyal: "This looks something like a Libertonian lab of some sort. I guess we gotta uncover the secrets of this place..."
Mark: "Liberty sending men to find their own secrets...sounds ironic, doesn't it?"
Daniyal: "Yeah...It does, If this is a man made structure, there should be generators too. Let's find the main power switch."
Mark: "Alright men," Addressing the squad, "Let's move out and bring back power to the base."
With that said, the squad began moving down the corridor. This place was astonishing, was it some sort of a secret research facility? Was it something the Libertonian government kept as a secret from it's people and it's police and military forces? The team was about to find it out. The team continued on down the corridor then turned left into a even longer corridor.
At the end of the corridor, there was a large hall, possibly a hanger, to the left, a staircase led to somewhere at the top. The soldiers stopped at the foot of the first set of stairs, it was completely covered in dust.
Mark: "Alright, I presume the switch is somewhere at the top, keep on your guard and watch our backs."
Daniyal: "Let's move then..."
The soldiers then continued up the staircase, they all were so incredibly alert. Like some animal in the forest sensing for danger. At the top of the staircase was a large door, as the soldiers got closer, they noticed it was half-open. They crawled in one by one.
On the other side, to the left was a control room of some sort and to the right was something which seemed like another large corridor. But there was a large door and it wasn't open.
Mark: "Let's get in there and see what we can do, I have a feeling this is the power control."
Daniyal: "Just be careful, the power getting activated means someone or something sleeping in this place would be awaken...or maybe not, this place looks abandoned since a long time..."
Mark: "I know man...but we gotta do what we're supposed to do..."
Daniyal: "Alright, I'll get in there and figure out how to get the power back."
With that said, Daniyal went in through the semi-half open door. and he started looking at the controls. The soldiers knew this place was no joke, there was something dangerous about it all, the Libertonian design, and how old this place looked. The purple pulsating rays on the outside were also filled with whiffs of danger.
Suddenly, in the distance, there came a faint sound of rocks dropping.
Mark: "Did we just...get trapped in here? Did those boulders collapsed on that hole we made while getting in?
Daniyal: "Okay! I've found the switch, it's the switch to the backup power generators so we still won't have a lot of light. Here goes..."
Daniyal flipped the switch, and some of the lights came on
Mark: "Daniyal, get over here..."
Daniyal: "What is it...Mark?" He spoke as he walked out of the control room."
Mark: "I think we're...trapped, me and the others heard boulders falling, the sound seemed to come from the place where we had made a hole in, and as now I've noticed, the doors have an airlock of weird design, you cannot see the airlock rays, it just prevents air from escaping. It means we have air here...and gravity."
Daniyal: "That's great...and we're trapped...yep, we gotta get to the main generators and activate all the lights, and look at the hanger..."
Mark turned around to look, the hanger was almost completely lit up now.
