If RM/LN dont go to war before 4.85 - How about an Interdiction Cruiser? Possibly a lightly armed capital ship that would be maybe a light Dessie? Or a Gunboat... But with plenty of cargo and two CD slots? or a custom cruise disruptor that doesn't use ammo? with a semi-large range+blast radius?
It was just an idea for the trade embargo amongst other things... But uhm

NPCs will hate you. This has been used in many mods previously and among the issues that have been noticed is capital ship spinning. Fire missiles at a capital ship and it spins slightly, this would essentially be spamming very very short lived missiles almost constantly.

With the spinfix that people have worked on however, this can be alleviated.

That aside, it is a very effective thing to have in a battle but again has issues. Although you stop your enemy cruising away, you stop any of your side doing the same.

When I saw this I was actually thinking it would be a ship that can avoid the enemy or just other ships from engaging their cruise engines... but I don't think that's possible... hehe, nice thought though.

Perhaps special guns which when fired automatically disable Cruise engines on whatever they hit? If thats possible?

Or just give it a rather large cargo, A Train CD that has unlimited ammo, and minor firepower(but still enough to stop a transport)
That would make it almost perfect for interdiction duties and solve the "He jettisoned slaves into space! I tried to save as many as I could before the Life Pods ran out but..."

personally I believe a ship with 2 or 3 CD slots and a Special CruiseDisrupter that requires IMMENSE power would be nice. give it a huge power plant but few gun/turret slots. Interdictors aren't suppose to do the damage just sting and stop. If any of you are screaming that these numbers are unfair. Remember this ship is Built around the sole idea of Cruise Disrupting.

Ex.

Interdiction Cruiser (or Destroyer depending on gun level)
Cost: 300mil-500mil (depending on faction and various stats)
6 level 8 or 9 turrets (probably gunboat level just to compensate for having a huge powerplant and prevent the spamming of the ship over a normal cruiser)
2 or 3 CD slots (one for the fast one far ranged CD and one for the short ranged agile one)


Special CD: Huge power requirements (like SN equivalent to a bomber)
Large blast radius (100m-200m that way a CM won't always save the ship)
Super Fast 1500-2000ks(like 2 times as fast as the other CD missles)
Range:4000-8000 M ( For those pesky runners who are far out to begin with.)
Super Huge Power core: moderate recharge rate

my hope is to not see the CD on anything but the interdiction ship...

hm, I dont know how Dev did, but his mod of Tides of War had a very special interdiction system that disrupted cruise in a wide area without firing any laser or projectile, yet it was a weapon slot, invisble and shooting nothing.

It was incredibly annoying to escape such vessel (it was a Dominator class Star Destroyer I think...) in my X-Wing ^^"

This is what I had first imagined. But I didn't know how it would be implemented. However it would be nice. Only downside is that it would affect ALL the ships. The idea with the missle is that it would affect the target and allow the pursuers to catch up. However in places such as liberty with the big issue being smugglers. I would really help. Especially Z21.

This could be beneficial, stoping all cruise within 8k perhaps and then when smugglers can only thrust, fighters can catch up on thrusters aswell... so to say, the ship would be a very light cruiser, with a turret that would basicly stop all cruise within sights at the flick of a switch.
