Total annihilation was one of the first 3d real-time strategy games. Its a very addicting, and fun game. There are many mods, and add-ons. Since the developer Cavedog doesn't exist anymore theres only LAN or direct gaming online, but you can find sites for game rooms for it. You''ll never get bored of this game.
I'll tell you whats going to be great
STALKER, Clear Sky
It was suppost to be released today but at the last second
the publisher pushed the release day forward another week
I was highly disappointed today
There are plenty of great old games out there but after playing the new ones
i can't stand the pixelation of the old ones
When TA was around I couldn't play online... and the AI sucked... another thing that sucked was that your turrets/units didn't fire on targets on radar.. while the enemy did.
So you had to use some plane swarms patrolling the area..
I know there's now an Advanced targeting facility yes...but still...
otherwise it was a really good game.
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
yes i still have all my original cds and expansion (core contingency) and also all the uber mods.
the mods are incredible. TA is still probaly the No.1 RTS out there. Battles are absolutely huge and they really shake your screen. The other thing is that the units.. they just keep coming. You keep piling them on and carnage never ends. Playing a TA fight for one night means you will go to bed with the sounds of battle ringing in your dreams (if you actually finishe the battle).
It is not unlikely for TA battles to go on endlessly since the resource actually never expires (you just keep salvaging the remaining busted tanks on the field).
of course, now we have CNC Generals and SEQUEL to TA Supreme Commander. CNC Generals is truly excelletn (but not quite the same as TA) and I havent tried Sup Comm. But i have heard good things about it.
TA multiplayer -- i think... is very good but can be quite laggy.
CNC generals multiplayer is quite horrifying in the evil things you can do to your opponent....
Supreme commander battles are like proper battles. Not 3 or 4 tanks rumbling around but 30 or 40. Give us the epicz please.
Generals was in a class of it's own. Multiplayer that reminded me a lot of Dawn of War and unlike any other strategy game I've played for a long time but it had faults. Still loved watching SCUD storms slamming down into another player's base...
